I believe its $15K per student. Time to privatize. I'll be there would be better results and more affordable. That said the "machine" and paradigms we all have would never permit it. neither will a lack of funds or results. That is the truest shame. One man's opinion.

radioactive,"go complain about government mandates the district must pay for."

This is a complaint you hear a lot, and it's true that there are a lot of useless mandates that cost a lot of money. Where did these mandates come from? Most of them come from bills which were requested or supported by the teacher's unions. You see, more money spent on schools means more money for the unions. Many of these mandates sound like they might be beneficial, but at what cost? Some of them are actually harmful, but bring lots of money to the unions. The skyrocketing cost of education is all about more money for the unions, which means more money for Democrat campaigns.

Enigma- Agreed, the unions are really crying right now about the wonderful Obamacare law, They should get nothing, i am hearing that the "law" (affordable healthcare act) does not allow for what they are asking for anyways, AHHHH what a shame.Obama and his liberal crew will find a way to rip off the taxpayer to sooth the unions, be sure of that. Tenure should be abolished also.

80 mill and the sat scores are still well below average. I'll bet the prison costs half as much to run. They should just shut down the school and build prisons.

81 Million, for just WASD, and how many administrators, vice-principals, asst. this and that, and the dozen secretaries to fill out all those federal compliance forms, and the ever-present pensions and healthcare benefits promised when times were good. Gotta pay those union dues to support the Teachers Union so they can support the next liberal political candidate who will award the Teachers Union with some sort of benefit. Oh yeah unions are so much more powerful than Fox News and their armies of pundits. I know so many powerful union leaders.
