MrShaman...you're an old biker??? Just kidding.

My husband still owns his 67 Shovelhead, he would not trade it for anything, we still ride all over, he loves it. He just had it painted "Candy-Apple Red", it's beautiful.

Hey, you didn't happen to hang on to that did ya? That thing would be worth some change now! Heck, I've been thinking about getting a Vespa just to tool around down in.. VERY nice scooters.

Hey...I started-OUT on a 125cc Vespa, in '65!! It wasn't MUCH...but, it surely did "blown-in the doors" on all o' those 50cc HONDAS, that were so prevalent/trendy at-that-time!!!

WOO-HOO!!!!!

Uh, "fillies"? No imagination needed here but it sure explains a lot. Wow, talk about taking one for the liberal cause. I know you guys are open minded but OMG!" - Premier

It was a different time, no doubt!!!

"cruisng was costing the city tax dollars that is why they ban it business were complaining ,"

Cruising happen at night after businesses downtown were closed except the bars. It was costing the city money because of law enforcement costs. Businesses complained because they equated the vandalism to their businesses with the cruisers and cruising.

We solved the issue of turning at Center St, it was going one more block to Locust and just hitting the light at Van Campen. Imho, I think a sanctioned cruise night in town needs reviewed. Maybe it could happen in the lot across from the Cinema Center. Gather some food trucks/vendors and get people downtown. Sure you're going to have a few people who will want to race and act a fool but it happens anywhere you go. People like to cruise in their old cars and like to show them off, no matter the condition. Give them a reason to come out. I'm sure the powers that be could formulate a plan to make it happen. Again, its just a thought and it appears more people remember the good/fun times cruising the circuit and may like to see that again.

"What is this cruising I've heard a lot about? We didn't have that back in RI. Did you folks used to just drive around the block over and over? Somehow that got banned?" - JerryfromRI

Our's (in '68, anyhow) ran from Court Street, to Walnut Street...via 3rd & 4th...11-or-12 blocks!!

This was (back) when MOPAR was KING...and, 'Nam-vets were comin'-home with POCKET$-FULL o' ca$h...and, kept local car-dealers REALLY happy!!!!

Combine all that with some SERIOUS testosterone...and, there was UNLIMITED-RACING, enjoyed by ALL!!!!! (The local tire-dealers had to be doing "pretty"-well, also.)

Cruising is like drug dealing! All you need to do is put up a sign, "No drug dealing".

LOL! 'Just say No!'
