Erik La Tranyi and Enigma I disagree my letter was very intelligent and can steer debate about school district funding in a pro-active direction. Grammie and mr. CMReeder here are already focusing on a more productive debate. As it stands, Kovich's response was a dead end that would just end in resentment and self-pity. BTW, I used social science methods to compare institutions in a way your piddly minds would never have thought of to begin with. Yes, I went there. I don't think you two have the cognitive capacity to understand budgets in the way I presented them here. Therefore, you childishly label them "stupid". Can you do better? Write an LTE proving me wrong.

It is expensive when south williamsport just cobbles together reading classes and just recently started teaching social studies again. Its expensive when looking at the school district ranking among other schools in pa and realize that we are not gettong a good bang for our buck.

Tgrammiex4, I agree with your post and stated something similar to the original letter. People want to do a comparison without looking at the budget and how it is divided and dispensed. The writer of this letter did as requested a comparison but with other US school districts and other PA school districts with similar size and not third world nations. The original letter just did not add up and this letter proves it.

"Knowledgeable" and Campana should never be used in the same sentence.

No matter what a school district's budget is alot of other things have to be taken into account. Total students served, no. of buildings used & maintenance, transportation costs per school, teachers and Admin. per school. All the info. needs to be considered to make an accurate comparison.

Those closest to the problem may not always see the issues or the answers.
