After seeing a couple of stories on F/B about people over-reacting to residents openly carrying their firearms, I need to comment....

I cannot honestly remember the last time I saw a citizen with a firearm openly on there side. I have conceal carried but would never openly want to display my firearm for obvious reasons.

Premier I'm with you. While I'm an avid supporter of the second amendment, openly carrying a firearm just brings unwanted attention, including by police. You have a right to do so, but don't be surprised when you are constantly stopped by police.

I agree with the LTE, Look at what is happening in Kenya right now, then ask yourself, would you rather be armed or not? The muslim extremists want to kill all christians, the sooner everybody understands this the better off and safer we will all be when we start to carry openly or concealed.

I fear the thought of untrained gun-toting hillbillies competing with our philly druggies aiming to up the body count. -radioactive

Fear not, the fact that you don't see people openly displaying firearms on their person in spite of the right to do so, shows that law abiding citizens are acting responsibly. I guess that kind of diminishes the stand you and many anti-gun advocates take.

Enter the Sham Man in 3.. 2.. 1, to put down all who agrees. I personally agree, maybe not with open carry because most people don't understand plus it makes the carrier a target for a gun heist from a BG. It is not the Muslim's that we need to protect ourselves from as much as it is the gangs, and druggies that will do anything for a fix or money. Don't believe me? Just read the news.

Say Chuck, when you retire and move away(fingers crossed). Will you choose to retire in some gun forbidden liberal utopia such as Chicago's South side, or Detroit perhaps?

This is a great example of liberalism, folks!

Don't trust your fellow citizens, but trust in a powerful central gov't.

It is dumb letter and those support it and think it is great are dumber yet.

The Constitution doesn't protect open carry of guns.

Don't come crying if someone shoots you while open carry because they perceive you as a threat not a good guy just showing off his gun.

Don't be outraged if people run from you or fear you or shun you for open carry of a weapon. Don't be surprised if you are seen as intimidating and not friendly while you open carry. Don't be surprise if a neighbor watch person views as a threat and takes action against you. Don't be shock if the authorities stop and question you and possibly arrest you.

Don't be surprise that people will see you as mentally unhinged and not a 'good guy'.

You are going extreme with your guns and you will face the consequences for doing so. People do not go around wearing white hats and black hats they are going around with misguided attitudes.

I know that this is true, but it shouldn't be. We have the right to carry, open or, with a permit, concealed. The police have no more business stopping you for carrying a gun than for pushing a stroller. This police harassment for carrying a gun is a violation of our rights and should not be tolerated. They have no more right to carry a gun than you or I, and statistically, you are more likely to be shot by a police officer than by a law abiding citizen.

Only a liberal would shoot another human being because they simply see a firearm.

"The Constitution doesn't protect open carry of guns."-Chuck

Wrong again Chuck! But I'll let you take that up with the Supreme Court. And even if it didn't, the laws in most states specifically allow open carry.

As for your assertion that you would shoot someone for carrying a gun; What kind of homicidal maniac are you? You would shoot someone who posed no threat to you? Would you shoot a police officer just because he is carrying a gun? If not, then why do you think it justified to shoot a citizen just for carrying a gun. You should really get some professional help. From your statements it is obvious that you suffer from Hoplophobia, an irrational fear of firearms. I suggest a trip to the range with a qualified instructor. It's cheaper than a Psychiatrist and probably more effective.

I carry my gun virtually everywhere and never had a officer stop and ask me anything about it as they shouldn't unless your involved in some sort of crime. I love my guns and freedom just don't tread on me or my family

1. I completely support 2nd Amend. rights. 2. Hubby has guns for hunting. 3. Guns scare the crap outta me. 4. I would like to offer another view that i haven't seen mentioned so far. How will open -carrying guns effect children? Part of the fear kids have of police officers is that they can see thier guns. What effect could it have if it becomes common for people to openly carry guns? Do we want kids to grow up in a world where seeing people carrying guns is normal? your opinions?

How ironic shammy the same revolver I hunt with is most of the time strapped on my side for protection. If all the criminals and politicians and military give up their weapons then ill follow suit in the mean time if your not robbing me or burglarizing my house or harming me or my family or property your safe you won't get shot.
