September 27, 2013

It really does appear that Councilmen Hall and Williamson are sympathizing with our city slumlords....

I feel for the law abiding residents of Williamsport fearing for their safety, but Howard is wrong, I believe, in his support for registration of tenants. Having to register so the police know who you are and where you live (save for the sex offenders who have to register by law) is eerily similar to Nazi Germany. Just saying.

The suspect caught this week would come and stay for a few days at a time.

Should he have been registered as a tennant or just a frequent visitor?

If police are going to these apartment buildings and ask tennants for help, do police get it?

Maybe Howard Ebner ought to go visit his neighbors at the apartment with the shootings and get to know them all. When a new face shows up that he doesn't trust, he can pass the name on to the police.

Actually radioactive, I like reading your comments, they bring humor to my day and they explain the user name you go by. You are glowing with ignorance.

This is just one more example of how this ordinance is going to be difficult to enforce.

I'm wondering why the SG chose to print this same letter twice and just change the title.

" Forget the watch groups and let our police do their job."--Howard

Well Howie, I would love for the police to do their job. Who's stopping them? That would be the same people trying to pass stupid new ordinances. The mayor thinks that the police department is his own personal legal department, while the district attorney thinks they are prosecutors. The department thinks it is the FBI. Maybe if everyone would realize that the police department is a police department, they would be on the streets where they belong and we could get the crime problem in hand. But no, you just want to pass more stupid oppressive laws and expect them to enforce themselves. But don't worry, when government at all levels have all the laws they want to control you, they will then begin to enforce them with an iron fist.

Howard, what do you want here a police state? It is not the job of the city to keep records on who rents an apartment, nor is it the landlords responsiblity to supply it.I sure wouldnt and do not want my tax dollars spent on the clerical part of what it would take to keep those records. If one of those persons (renters) breaks the law then the police can take care of it.If you are that unhappy with your surroundings then change it! (your address that is)
