Find a hobby mr mills its reported you called the codes office 44 times in July alone and over 117 times this year maybe they just have caller id and words fall on deaf ears?

Chuck, I agree. I know Joe Geradi personally and have spoken to him numerous times regarding the huge task his office has with the small staff he employs. Their biggest concern is chronic blighted properties and getting those numbers down. If you have been following the news, you would have read that they are making good progress. I believe they are down to 43 properties that are soon to be fined up to 1000.00 for each violation. On a positive note, there are neighborhood watch groups popping up all over the city and I've found through experience that many properties within the watch group areas tend to make an extra effort to ensure everyone is within code.

Too many "victims rights" to protect the wrong doers. Too many restrictions on landlords relief from "unsavory" renters and too many absentee slumlords. I'd use the term "personal responsibility" but in litigious society, those are dirty words.

You are dealing with a possible absentee landlord, maybe an abandon vehicle, budget cuts. Maybe owners were given extensions due to hardship or it went to court. There is a lot of reasons why it doesn't get done right away. It doesn't necessarily mean the codes department and officers are not doing their job.

Funny Erik has no problem messing up other people's names.

Yes, a call to police by a codes officer can result in arrest.....but that is not going to happen for grass that is not cut or some garbage laying around.

That is reserved for the most egregious violations.

People think a landlord can evict a tennant on the spot.

It does not work this way.

Even for non-payment of rent, evictions can take months, putting the landlord even further behind on income.
