I had the opportunity the other evening to attend the meeting hosted by our state Rep Rick Mirabito regarding tenant landlord issues....

That Captain Miller does not live in the City has no bearing whatsoever on the validity of the ordinance. If it did, Ms. Logue's voice would bear no credibility either since she isn't a resident of Williamsport.

The fact remains that landlords possess the greatest power in their ability to evict problem tenants AND THEIR GUESTS through responsibly managing their properties. Soundly formulated lease agreements, combined with enforcing those lease agreements, can do far more than the police.

The ordinance will give teeth to evict by informing the landlords of problem tenants each time the police are at a rental property to handle a noise disturbance or criminal activity.

Here's the catch: If the irresponsible landlord chooses to NOT evict after being notified, then that landlord gets cited.

I see Cliff Reiders, Tim Miller and Eric Lindhart walking thru the tradesman blocks of williamsport everyday! Hah! (NEVER)Its easy to have a miscued opinion from behind your computers. Walk the walk, come on down to the tradesman blocks . Our mayor should be promoting this city? These people are snowballing the good people of Williamsport downhill. Try renting an apartment right now in Williamsport. There are no carjackings, kidnappings, random drive by shootings here. In my opinion it is little boys trying to be gang bangers in front of their girlfriends. These 16 year olds are manipulating this town to spend millions & ruin all good poeple have worked hard to accomplish here. We have 2 prestigious colleges , a state of the art medical center, tree lined street, Victorian ladies yet certain entities have not done their job for 5 years and are looking for a scapegoat. Uninformed people are falling for it. Show me the statistics??

This subject has been beaten to death. I believe that Williamsport already has a Landlord Association and for those landlords that are against this ordinance, if they aren't members of that association, then they should join and fight it as a united front. Writing letters about it and complaining in these comments will bring no results.

Can someone show me clear evidence that requiring police to be residents will have any impact on crime rates.

I think we will find this is just a "feel good" rule.

If you read the paper today the shooting happened from someone that was just"visiting" the rental and not the person on the lease, once again drug dealers and scum do not put names on the lease they have a girlfriend mom or other friend secure the apartment or house, then they are always visiting. Most landlords would not rent to these low lifes but the people on the lease can pass a background check. Despite all this as a landlord I support this ordinance if Campana would be honest and say how much this will cost me. You cant have someone sit at codes full time entering names and adresses and deleting old addresses for free there is a cost to this so how much are you going to tax me?
