That's odd because I've seen exactly that happening at one of the largest employers in the county.

...and by the employment numbers, they are not hiring part time employees either. The worst economic recovery of the last 100 years.

In the same interview, Zandi also said that if it was not for the Affordable Care Act, the job market would be doing better right now. The author pulled this snippet of the conversation from Media Matters without listening to the full discussion (surprise, surprise).

Google "Jobs growth misses high hopes; unemployment rate drops to 7.3%" and watch the full discussion on MSNBC.

I feel a reply letter coming on.

Gee Tim, do you have ANY original thoughts? You could have changed a couple words here. Or better yet, credited Tanya Wagner for her work that you stole.

Everywhere you look you see that the large majority of new jobs that have been created have been part time jobs. This important fact is seldom mentioned by Obama's media sycophants. But it brings to mind the memory of Nancy Pelosi holding up a spatula and criticizing GWB for what she called burger flipper jobs being created (2 years after 9/11) and asking "where are the jobs?"

This president's record of job creation is far worse than GWB's was, but you never hear that from the media.

Nothing original in this LTE, just a rehash of the same old tired leftist/socialist talking points. Tim you really need to look at the gov's own stats they tell an entirely different picture.

"The author pulled this snippet of the conversation from Media Matters without listening to the full discussion (surprise, surprise)." That is what the leftists do, only pull part of the story and then align to their message.

With the Gov't shut down just remember this, you still have to pay your taxes, you just don't get any gov't services.

Chuck, would you like to resubmit your comment and give your accolades to the real author? Or perhaps it's "the right's" fault he took credit for this letter.

Jerry, that almost sounds like an oxymoron.

For the record. This is Tim Mannello. I am the original author of the letter to the editor under my name today. I wrote it on September 23 and sent it to some friends before I sent it to the Gazette. I did get the information from a Media Matters article that cited U.S.A. Today, as I recall. I summarized the content of that article in my own words and put quotations around words that I cited verbatim. There was no reason to credit anyone for the letter because I wrote it myself.

"the number of workers working below the 30-hour cutoff in the range of 26-29 hours per week is actually lower in 2013 than in 2012,"

So is the total number of employed. As a percentage, part time work is at an all time high. Many employers have openly stated that they are converting full time jobs to part time because of the ACA. Maybe our NBC (Obama TV) expert missed these little tidbits. It's part of the old saying,"Figures don't lie, but liars figure." If you look at the overall picture, it is not good, but you can pick out certain statistics that do look good. Take your pick, do you want the truth or an appealing illusion? It is true that the number of part time jobs is lower now than a year ago. It is also true that the number of full time jobs has dropped even more, causing the percentage of part time jobs to be higher than ever. In context, this is not good news and much of it is due to the looming threat of Obamacare.

Bad timing there, huh Chuck? Spend more. Tax more. Grow government. Make more people dependent. Blame everything on Conservatives. How long have Liberals been trying that? Fails every time it's tried.
