September 28, 2013

Much of the law enforcement’s perspective at Friday’s heroin task force meeting at Lycoming County Courthouse focused on the problem with rental properties....

Again, blame it on renters because we all know those who own their own homes would never get involved in drugs. Run all of the renters out of town and sell the rental properties to those home-owning saints who would never get involved in anything illegal. If you believe that, I've got a bridge that goes over the Susquehanna that is up for sale!

"Mass incarceration works," but is carried out on the taxpayers dime and only further hardens criminals who will eventually get out of the system and back into our communities.

Ship them all to an island and leave them to their own devices--then the problem will sort itself out.

"Mass incarceration works" and money should be spent on it, Linhardt said". That's a really stupid and uninformed comment. The US incarcerates a greater number of its citizens than any other country in the world. Must be our exceptionalism.

But it is so much easier & safer for the dui task force to make revenue sending citizens with a bac of .11 to jail, community service, and paying big fines etc at 1:00 am than to go into the danger zones and randomly patrol and arrest the drug dealers/buyers. Patrol the Crick Rd, stay the*****away from High St would be my motto if I was a cop here!

The cops work their******off. The problem is that we don't have the resources to take preventative measures and we have a DA that states that massive incarceration works. It doesn't. Crime has doubled since we've had this DA. The answer is community involvement, creative criminal justice alternatives to jail, and a proactive rather than reactive approach by law enforcement.

an addict is still an addict, wether he's a home owner or a renter.stop pointing fingers if the cops in this town really worked for their livings instead of just taking daily joy rides, then maybe we'd see some changes.
