Good point reader 2. And, sometimes pedestrians walk in the street because sidewalks can be dangerous.

Robert, the law considers motorized wheelchairs or power chairs pedestrians, not vehicles. Like any pedestrian, sometimes people in power chairs need to cross streets. Their learning how to do that more safely benefits drivers as well as the "pedestrians on wheels."

robert72, you are not getting off the hook that easy. Many scooter or chair users travel in the street because of so many bad sidewalks. I use a walker with wheels and I travel in the streets outside of the downtown area many times because of very uneven sidewalks. I walk, facing traffic, like the law suggests on roads with no sidewalks. If you are suggesting "riders" must use sidewalks only, they you are forcing them to stay home if they live where the sidewalks are bad. Also, you were VERY offensive in calling them "lazy scooters" or "obese transporters". May you find yourself in need of one of these devices some day and may you be called lazy or obese and see how you like it. Jerk!

Twinder, please read the article:

All attendees received a card for their chair or wallet with numbers on it for city codes enforcement and the non-emergency number of the county emergency communications center.

wow. IGNORANT JERK.... people dont just RIDE a scooter or wheelchair because they are lazy or fat you dumb piece of crap. no one CHOOSES to be in a chair.. lazy sscooter or obese transporter shows your lack of respect for human kind. people have internal issues YOU cant see. one may have heart troubles, nothing wrong with their legs at all, but if they walk from gods country to the front of the store their heart could allow them to die right in front of you, but do you care? NOPE cuz youre an ignorant jerk. One isnt always obese because they are lazy or eat mcdonalds day in day out. there are medical issues for that too. a skinny person may hv had a car accident that messed up their back and now they cant move properly, hence gaining wait, or lymphedema. Mature please.

Whose bright idea was it to have people tying up the 911 center with calls about bad sidewalks? The Tele-communicators at 911 cannot do a thing about a bad sidewalk. Just what should they do when they receive one of these calls? Send police? Dispatch a fire engine?
