I'm fairly-certain they STILL rely on White-trash to keep resurrecting this distraction, when the subject is gun-crimes...at the very-least...since the LAST-time some local-cretin made mention, of it, here. -Shaman

I take that as a compliment Shaman. At least I have the courage to voice the real issues instead of being a coward and labeling everything racism. The black community has no chance to better themselves and stop killing each other as long as they have liberals like you "looking out for them". Blacks killing each other at rates never seen before is just a "distraction" according to you. Pitiful.

Wow Sham, you've outdone yourself- Newsweek AND the Daily Beast, two of the most bi-partisan Republican hit pieces out today. You need more Limbaugh; is he really overweight??

"What common factors are present with a lot of these crimes? I can name two, alcohol and drugs. Do the research on the number of gun violence cases that involved the abuse of alcohol and or drugs." - Capricorn1

I'm guessing that research will show that the percentages are the same...as those folks (with mental-issues) who use drugs & alcohol to quiet the "voices" in their head. It's called self-medication.

Now...WHAT was the source of your research...or, have you "forgotten"...again??

...Much the same way T-Baggers prefer not discuss their endorsement of Ayn Rand's pro-Nazi/pro-extermination (of "parasites") agenda.

Chuckles: "I am still chuckling over 'anti-gunner' must be one of those new fangle weapons the military dreamed up. (Note- sarcasm) "

Like the term you liberals use "tea baggers"? What's funny is how all you liberals knew what that meant while the rest of us had to look it up.

Now that's sick!

radioactive "Our society just can't handle the responsibility of responsible. Until I see otherwise, I'm anti-everything humans can touch - a pesky species that preys on its own kind."

If the human race is soooo bad, how is it that you somehow are able to rise above it. Are you not human? I'm sure you are, and being human, you must realize that if you are somehow better than what you think humans are, then other humans must be also. Or are you including yourself in your rather dismal description? I'm not saying that you are not right, in your description, I am just wondering if you are exempting yourself. If so, what makes you so much better than the rest of us? If your view of humans is correct, why would you trust any of them to have authority over the rest? Something in your outlook doesn't make sense. Please explain.

The ironic thing is, I don't hear anything from the Administration or democrats regarding the increasing epidemic of blacks killing other blacks with guns. They had two things to choose from to blame that epidemic on, guns or racism and they chose racism. And neither excuse addresses the real issues. Perhaps it's the fault of racist guns.

John Galt is still a fictional character from the mind of Ayn Rand. Who people think is a great person to emulate.

CMReeder Oct-04-13 9:05 AM*********"Erik you really should not speak to that which you clearly do not understand."

Neither should you, you clearly show that you fail to understand BATF rules and regulations on firearm sales. All interstate sales of firearms, whether private sales or sales through dealers require Background checks. So there is no circumvention of the background check, or as you would put it, Gun Show Loophole.

Next issue is that ALL handguns sales are illegal to out of state individuals, a handgun can never be purchased by an individual in other that the state in which his home of record. This is the big one, considering 95% of gun crime in Chicago is perpetrated with the use of a handgun. These weapons must either be obtained in the state of IL through a background check or they must be illegal obtained weapons... No that cant be right... That's illegal.

Once again the anti-gun crowd commenting here lack education on the real causes of violent crime. Instead they attack the tool instead of facing the real issues and attempting to solve those. It's much easier that way. They somehow think if they ban the tools, violent crime will disappear and that line of thinking is not only highly uneducated, but it solves nothing. What is causing these folks to pick up a gun to begin with and extracting their violence on another human being? What common factors are present with a lot of these crimes? I can name two, alcohol and drugs. Do the research on the number of gun violence cases that involved the abuse of alcohol and or drugs. Should we then make alcohol illegal? We saw how well that worked out in history. Instead of taking the easy way out and blaming the tool, how about we focus our attention on the real causes and attempt to find the answers. That will save a heck of a lot more lives.

Too many guns, that is the problem. And the industry along with the NRA want even more. That is the way to fix the problem. Who is John Galt?

Mr. Reeder said:

Chicago may in fact have tight gun control laws but unforyunately the surounding communities do not making it easy to purchase and bring back to Chicago. So the surrounding communities to Chicago defy the gun control laws of Chicago.

That's why you need the UN gun ban so there will be no firearms anywhere in the world, right?

Do you know where Chicago is geographically? I said surrounding communities, I did not mention state or states.

I have family who lived in Gary, In. Chicago was less than 1 hour away by car and most of them worked in Chicago.

Sham no longer has the right to keep and bare arms because he abused it. Now he wants to take it away from everyone. It's a case of, "If I can't have it, you can't have it either." It would appear that, emotionally, Sham has never progressed past kindergarten. That kind of tantrum is how he lost that right in the first place.

I say all of this, not to abuse poor Sham, but to point out that his arguments do not come from any core conviction, but from a deep seated selfishness, and should be summarily dismissed.

"Chicago may in fact have tight gun control laws but unforyunately the surounding communities do not making it easy to purchase and bring back to Chicago."--Chuck

Wrong again Chuck. Chicago is in IL which has the same guns laws as Chicago. But, even if you were right, you have just made a great argument against strict gun laws in the U.S. In just about any third world country, you can buy any weapon you want. All the criminals would have to do is buy them there and bring them across our wide open southern border. It would just set up yet another black market. It may be a cliche but it is true; When guns are illegal, only criminals will have guns.

Actually the ACLU also files suit in many cases that would not be considered "liberal" causes. Google a list of cases they have litigated.
