Closing the road!

October 4, 2013

I can’t believe they are going to close the road coming off the Main Pike Road, down to the Old Pike Road....

Can't this woman ever write anything positive? All she does is complain about everything, it gets boring.

I don't often agree with Sham on his posts, but he hit the nail on the head with this one. Honestly, adding an additional 1.5 miles to your journey requires a LTE? There are children going without enough to eat, people loosing their jobs and/or homes, people dying of cancer and what bothers you enough to write a LTE is 1.5 extra miles to drive??? So sad!

"Why did the state even patch that section if they knew they were going to close it?."--Donna

You just don't understand how government works. The money was allocated to fix the road before the decision to close it. Once the money is allocated, it has to be spent no matter what. In fact, it was probably fast tracked so they could be sure to get the repairs done before it was closed. I wish this was sarcasm, but it is not. It is actually how government works. I've seen the military spend millions fixing up buildings that were then closed immediately after being fixed. What's worse is that they have stupid regulations that require businesses to do similar wasteful things. It's the way bureaucracies think.

...Especially when that stretch can be so "entertaining" (downhill), when it's snow-packed!!!!!!!

"Did the state even consider the people who work and rely on that road to get home? If they close it in 2014, we will have to come down Route 15 to the turn off on the right, which is a good mile and a half extra just to get to our homes." - Donna J. Lambert

Seriously...you want to complain about driving an additional mile-and-a-half, each day??

Would Life be more-convenient, for you, if you were unemployed?

I didn't think they were closing it completely. Wasn't it was only going to change to one-way at the southern end; presumably one-way heading north to limit cars pulling out of that end to head south?
