Exactly how many jobs has Sham had?

Sham met a texan who did drugs . Therefore. Texans are a definite contributor to Williamsport's drug problem . If we apply the same rationale to a group who is proven to be the greatest contributor to drug sales, we are racists. Can we even be honest about the origin of the drugs and dealers?" - spike2

My guess is..."drugs and dealers" go where their customer-base exists; everywhere.

To suggest any-and-all Texans are "immune" to (whichever) drugs are coming-across-the-Border, is naive...to say the least.

To be tolerant, but how tolerant do we have to be of rising crime? How tolerant do we need of shootings, robbery, violence? Call it what it is, back when williamsport had a black population of 1% there was 1 shooting a year, now at 13% there are 13 shootings a year.

Implying the gas WORKERS are contributory to the degeneration of Williamsport is absurd. Re I really don't believe the workers from Oklahoma and Texas have anything to do with the drug issue." - spike2

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You've (QUITE) obviously never met a Texas-junkie!!!

I met my first Texas-junkies (a married-couple), in Colorado, back (around) '85/'86.

Sorry to destroy your illusion, about Texans, but...it's not like Williamsporters are all-that-familiar with events/situations, outSIDE of town.

I re-read this letter . I was never sold on the gas industry BUT now am compelled to defend the workers. Mr. James , the operative word is work. Implying the gas WORKERS are contributory to the degeneration of Williamsport is absurd. Re I really don't believe the workers from Oklahoma and Texas have anything to do with the drug issue. Offer one iota of substantive fact.

How can anyone write this crap and not see their own hypocrisy? After seeing this blatant contradiction, you just discard the rest of the letter as just so much B.S. and I'm not talking about a college degree.

First and foremost, the U.S. Government has to stop financing the ****** trade. Since Congress failed to pass a budget, expect more ****** to arrive via military cargo.

Mr. James . Criminal behavior will always exist. That does not mean we should accept it. If the drug dealers are coming from major cities then we should scrutinize some groups closely. None of us are suggesting all minorities are suspect. The likely parameters are defined by facts. We are not going to simply allow our town to become increasingly. worse.

If anyone is politicizing this issue it’s Richard James; even to the point of throwing race into the mix.

Richard James-"And the cameras will be placed in predominantly black and poor areas of the city."

I thought that what was reported was that the cameras would be placed in those areas where the crimes we being committed. If it's true that only a handful of people are committing these crimes, and it's in the poor and black neighborhoods, one would think that protecting our poor and black neighborhoods from those few people would be a good thing. Or am I missing something?

Violent crime isn't the only problem that faces this city. According to the FBI Report of Offenses Known to Law Enforcement, the property crime rate in Williamsport was higher than the national property crime rate average by 41.44% and higher than the property crime rate in Pennsylvania by 91.49%. These crimes all take resources to respond to and investigate and they also place a burden on our court system. To think that the city is sensationalizing the facts for political purposes is just burying your head in the sand and avoiding the issue. Perhaps you should talk to some of the victims of these crimes.

The crimes are being caused by a small group. But the community will not help identify those individuals.
