Wow! So many "patriots" around here who like to play ostrich. (Head in the sand) It doesn't take much effort to research the US role in the 1970's Chilean gov't overthrow. It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that the US loves it's puppet dictators and cabals, as long as it serves our interests. Much of our past actions with regard to Chile, Vietnam, Iraq, etc. fall under the very definition of war crimes. Being a "patriot" is a lot more involved than just wearing a flag pin. Sometimes it means calling it what it is, even if it hurts faux patriot's wittle feelins.

Another low information Democrat on a rant. Secretary Kissinger can be criticized for many things but to call him a "War Criminal" is total BS. The Secretary of State does not have any decision making in the conduct of the war. That falls on the President through the Secretary of Defense and down the entire Chain of Command of the military. I'm trying to decide if we as a society have failed the Mr. Erdman's of this country by not adequately teaching American History or if that is an impossible task because of the number of Chuck's and those like him who don't care about facts. They just make it up as they go. Sad really.

Before anyone jumps all over me my statement of the current Secretary of State consulting with a past Secretary of State is a good move, not something that should be criticized as in the letter.

Uh, Agent Orange was used as a defoliant, not to kill people. Yes, Yes, yes, Agent Orange flied- people died. People dying kinda happens in a war zone. As long as there is the l u st for power and there is greed, people will die as a result. I whole-heartedly welcome that Hope and Change.

First off, I would like to say, I don't think Mr. Erdman "hates America". Pointing out past or present faults with ones country should not suggest one hates their country, it's what we learn from these mistakes that makes us better. With that said, I think Mr Erdman's letter is very bizarre. Mr. Kissinger is one of the most knowledgeable men around on the middle east, I don't believe Sec Kerry is "eager" to bomb anybody, and agent orange was designed to kill foliage not people( though it's side effects were often deadly). No I don't Mr.Erdman hates America, He just dosn't seem to understand much about Her.

The current Secretary of State should not consult with previous Secretaries of state on how to deal with obstinate nations like Syria and Russia.

Agent Orange was also very harmful to our own soldiers. All that you manage to point out Mr. Erdman is that the foreign policy of the US has not changed all that much, it is just the players.

Mr. Erdman is mentally unstable.

Agent Orange was used in 1961 until 1971.....that is under President Kennedy and ending under President Nixon.

The Secretary of State does not decide what weapons are used by the US military.

Mr. Erdman need psychiatric help.
