I CANT BELIEVE YOU PEOPLE ARE THAT RETARDED. LIKE THAT OLD POLICE CRUISER IS A GEM AND ITS COSTING US TAX PAYERS A FORTUNE. I CONSIDER THAT CAR TO BE A DISPOSABLE WHITE BIC LIGHTER. OH AND DON'T LET HIS FAMILY RIDE IN IT AND HE BETTER NOT USE IT FOR PERSONAL BUSINESS. LIKE HIM OR HIS FAMILY WANTS TO. COME ON PEOPLE.

Leave Gabe alone, what have you people done to clean up the city not a****thing. Its an old beat up police cruiser for the love of god.The man is trying to clean the city up and has made great strides in doing so. If you think this man has not donated some of his own time into this city think again. Oh big deal whats insurance and a little gas. I WILL BUY A CAR AND DONATE IT TO GABE AND PAY THE INSURANCE ON IT, AND GIVE HIM GAS MONEY OUT OF MY OWN POCKET.

You people have been saying for thirty years that all the crime in Williamsport is because of people coming from other places. It's not true now, and it never was.

You have crime because your police force is completely ineffective and the leadership inept. The mayor says using your car deters crime and saves you money. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

If you want things to get better, stop blaming others and look in the mirror. You elected these idiots. It's your fault.

although it wasnt quite as bad, there were drugs and crime long before jessie. i recall being a child at the skating rink BEFORE jessie and cops being there. both races involved in crime not just the assumed philly black influx. quit judging and quit blaming. believe it or not, white folk make sell and use drugs. they also commit crimes too. so. its NOT just jessie and NOT just the influx. its NOT ok with me that the mayor is using govt vehicles on his private time, but at least hes stepping up to attempt, or should we say make it LOOK like hes attempting to help fight crime...

Spike, I agree. The fact that there are those that still blame Jessie Bloom for this city's crime problem just shows how disconnected those citizens are from what is going on around them. I have a niece who is an addict and recently moved away from this area and I spoke with her at length about the ease of getting the drugs are where she got them. The young people coming to this area have nothing to do with Jessie Bloom era. They come to this area from places like Philly and Pittsburg just as they prey on other areas like Wilkes Barre, Scranton and the likes because they can sell their drugs at a much greater profit than they can in the big cities. It's all about supply and demand and has nothing to do with Jessie Bloom. Some of these dealers make two or three trips a week back and forth and stay with friends on both ends. It's strictly business for them.

Is the vehicle equipped with: 1. A spotlight? 2. A police band radio? 3. Is routine maintenance or service to the vehicle provided by the city? 4. Does the Mayor have power (or guts) to intervene in criminal activity? 5. When Lord Gabe is galavanting around playing 'Lone Ranger', Is HE being provided "Protection" by the city? - Does ANYONE believe he parks in 'High Crime' areas ALONE? ****!!! - IF you can answer YES to any of these questions... Then it could be time to WAKE-UP WILLIAMSPORT. Crime doesn't ONLY happen on our streets... maybe it's TIME to seek an internal investigation into misuse of power and/or corruption within our own city hall.

Metalhead, take a second and talk to anyone in the CJ system . The "criminals" are no more related to people who came decades ago than is proportionate to "locals". People coming with the specific intent to sell drugs do not have familial ties.

Rottyboyy, I agree. It many jurisdictions across the country, local, county and state law enforcement are allowed to take the vehicles home to provide more visibility throughout neighborhoods.

Really Jessie Bloom? Why not interview her for articles that have to do with crime. After all it,s partially/mostly her fault we have so much crime & un-disrespectful scum bags in our city. I.E. 1st. 2nd. & 3rd. generation influx!

Sounds good to me. It seems to be pretty well-established that police visibility is a major deterrent to crime. If the mayor, in consultation with police officials, wants to make a contribution to public safety, I think he deserves a vote of confidence and thanks.
