If it makes Ed Harrington look good, he's all up for it. When our son had severe learning disabilities and Ed was the Superintendent, he fought tooth and nail to STOP our son from getting the help he needed. Only when we filed valid complaints with the Bureau of Special Ed. and hired an Education Law attorney did he offer any help at all. It wouldn't have made him look good to help a child with ONLY learning severe disabilities or as one of the angry principles said to us "I'm sorry Mr. and Mrs. So and So, Your son just isn't retarded enough!!!" Harrington would never hear us complain about that remark, because as he had told us before when we complained about his character "What do you expect?" But he gave a donation to a worthy cause, what a wonderful man.. We'll simply erase all of the evil from his past! Poof!!!

To attack the good and charitable work of others is malicious. Anyone that worked with Mr. Harrington knows first- hand of his unwavering generosity and advocacy of children in particular children with disabilities. Comments here are uncalled for, we need more people like the Harringtons who think of others.

Unless you are the parent of a disabled child who has been denied services in the public school system, you really don't understand the pain and rejection you feel for your child. This may not be happening today in the schools, but I can assure you it did in the past. I don't know Mr. Harrington, so I can't comment on his character, but if SilverFeather has first hand knowledge of a situation, she/he has every right to post a comment. I have a disabled daughter and I know the struggles and mountains you must climb in society. Hope is a good organization and Jim Campbell is a wonderful leader and advocate for the disabled. Whatever the circumstances, I am happy for the gift to Hope, but remain a advocate for the voices of parents whose children can't speak for themselves. I hope SilverFeathers child is receiving adequate help and wish them the best.

Wow! For a moment I thought SilverFeather was my wife. But I know she's not. We also had to hire attorney's and sue the school district to gain access for our special needs child. Sounds like a trend for old Ed. I do have to say, in my opinion our school district has made incredible progress in accepting and including special needs children since Ed's departure.
