Chuck, bad sells. Miley Cyrus has gone all hooker like and is being booked on every show and selling lots of music. But, you don't hear a thing about Taylor Swift. I'd take my daughter to see Miss Swift and buy all her promotional stuff. All good stuff. But, she doesn't get the press Miss Cyrus gets, and I'll bet she doesn't miss it one bit.

Ritty, I'm assuming that it's a play on the song "Ya got Trouble" from Music Man. Part of the song is: Trouble, oh we got trouble, Right here in River City! With a capital "T" That rhymes with "P" And that stands for Pool,

Just my guess.

Not sure which applies here--You can judge a book by it's cover--John 3:16 or It is better to look good than to be good--John 4:26

"Is there conflict over good and can you really make good better? Or do you make yourself better at good? Here is a good question for you: What do you notice about a stranger, the "good" or the "bad"?"--Chuck

Immediately after asking two questions, you tell us you have a question for us. Do you ever read what you've written before you submit it? But Chuck does tell us a lot about himself here. He always looks for bad. While most of us look for more information, he is focused on the bad. I can't imagine living life with that thought process. Chuck's mind must be a very dark and lonely place.

CMReeder,

On a separate note, did you find a home for the cat?

"What do you notice about a stranger, the "good" or the "bad"?"

++

I usually notice the type and color of their clothes.

As they get closer, I can see their hair and face better.

As they get closer still, I can see the color of their eyes, hear the tone of their voice, and feel the grip of a hand shake.

Then I get to know more about them, who they are, their likes and dislikes.

Eventually we may get to a discussion of faith and belief.

Strangers are a creation of God, beautiful and wonderfully made. All do some good things, all do some bad things. All need a relationship with God.

In fairness to Chuck, I see his letter not really focusing on the point the Pastor made or didn't make, but rather asks and then provides a possible answer to the question, "Why do we focus on the bad?"

I see Chuck's letter, while being neutral on the point made by the Pastor, as suggesting her point was thought provoking.

It is what she meant Cap, and honestly, it comes as no surprise that Chuck didn't comprehend that.

Chuck, I think the point Pastor Rine was trying to make was that we are constantly bombarded with bad news from the media everyday and we should take more time to appreciate what we have and the good things in our lives, like our loved ones.

"What do you notice about a stranger, the "good" or the "bad"?" - Charles M. Reeder

I always assume the good, until their actions prove otherwise.
