Republican blinders

October 10, 2013

I see this "newspaper" & Webb Weekly promoting the Republican agenda by only putting in cartoons & stupid statements made by Democratic persons to make the Democratic Party look foolish and stupid....

Perhaps Mr. Nicholas and Mr. Kamzelski could publish their own Williamsport paper so they too can have the same freedoms of the SG. Maybe they could name it The Williamsport Liberal Times. They could hire Shaman and Reeder to write their editorials.

Tgrammiex4 I owe you a very big apology, I'm very sorry that I made reference to your family in a derogatory way. I was way out of line. Not at all funny, and I sounded just like a common piece of garbage. Which I am, for having written that. Sometimes I amaze myself at my mean mouth. It was mean, and yet, I really didn't mean anything other than to unload a bad day I had on you.

I am sorry Tgrammiex4.

Democrats don't need any help from either newspaper to look foolish, they do a good job of that all by themselves.

Yet another Liberal who got their little feelings hurt. May I suggest all that feel this way move to Philly or the Burg. That way you'll never have to be exposed to an alternate point of view.

The big DIFFERENCE, is...you (actually) get the opportunity to RESPOND to the S-G's screed.

Also, I find Webb Jr.'s editorials MUCH-more informative/balanced, then the constant (ALWAYS-expected) right-wing whining his old-man dispensed.

I'm sure it's a generational-thing.

I don't believe Williamsport "regulars" could SURVIVE such alternative-publications as Denver's "Westword", or Austin's "Austin Chronicle".

I surely would LOVE to see Penn Tech make the effort, though, with a publication similar to the Colorado Daily (put-out by CU; Boulder).

Mark Stephen Nicholas; You are assuming the Democratic Party needs any help to look foolish and stupid. PS. There is an alternative, liberal, monthly screed in this town called "The Guardian". Plus it's free, so that would appeal to all good liberals.

I'm guessing it would (only) be a couple-weeks, before T-Baggers would be INSISTING-upon IMMEDIATE-cessation.

I'm sure the folks at The Guardian mean well...but, they (typically) seem to be a collection of blogs.

What this town needs, is an alternative-publication that would (figuratively) grab the local-cretins by the front o' their "shirt", and slam their heads against a wall; the ol' mule/2X4 option.

Is it so wrong to want to see opposing opinions in the same rag? I think not. As I said in another thread, I know what the SG is about. It is what it is and I accept that. I also weigh what it published based on its obvious bias. I get my op-eds and news from a variety of sources, something we should all do.

But I have to say, it is almost embarrassing for this newspaper to be so blatantly biased. They don't even make an attempt at showing an opposing viewpoint, which makes me wonder how confident they really are in the opinion they do have. If it was so righteous, why not offer rebuttals?

I would suspect that a bunch of gun fearing liberals printing a paper wouldn't have the jewels to slam any heads against the wall.

I just find it funny that there are those that have a problem with the SG printing right leaning editorials, but see no problem with most main stream news media, which has a national audience, leaning left and giving Obama a lifetime pass. He is now responsible for five years in Afghanistan, and those Americans that have died during those years, yet it has been the forgotten war since he took office.

Yes, just like the Washington Post, New York Times or MSNBC is so blatantly biased that they are simply mouthpieces of the DNC masquerading as journalists.

Again, this shows how liberals think.

Liberals hate opposing points of view and insist on "fairness" from conservative-oriented news sources.

Liberals make no such requests of left-leaning news sources.

Have you ever heard a liberal ask for MSNBC to show the conservative view?

Have you ever heard a liberal lament the latest Washington Post editorial because it is a press release from the DNC?

No.

Liberals only complain about conservative-oriented news sources.

Liberal hypocrisy on display, folks!

Not to worry! I can't speak for Tea Baggers, but as for me, I would just see it for what it is, a poor attempt at humor.

It stands to reason. Even if they based it on the LTE comments, most commenters lean to the right. They assume a greater percentage of thier readers are Repubs. They are going to print what they think we want to read.It sells papers. Its all $$.

I don't agree with the letter writer. He is only speaking to the opinion page and not the paper as a whole. Nor is the Webb Weekly, it is the editorial that is.

This letter is about as accurate as the constant claim that the national media is liberal.

Watch MSNBC or CNN or CBS if you need to hear a bunch of feel good nothingness (is that a word?)or listen to Jay Carney or Chris Matthews if you want to throw up and hear a bunch of lies. Why does Obama feel the need to hurt everybody with his crappy policies? He does it intentionally and you know it. We can't help you stand behind a person who has zero leadership qualitys and has never even held a real job. He is out of his element of some Liberal college (where he belongs) and he does not know how to handle it. Not our fault we didn't vote for him.Live with it.
