I am truly sorry for those employees and beneficiaries of Federal paychecks during a government shutdown. However, fixing things here and there so that people aren't so burdened by the shutdown is just a politicians way of trying to better their chance of re-election after this nightmare. "Hey look, military death benefits weren't going to happen, but 'I' voted to reinstate it during the shutdown."

Minimizing the impact of the shutdown just means less urgency to get something done. Shut it down for real. Let the true consequences of the shutdown ripple through . Try to justify THEN, a shutdown after a grieving spouse or family member can't afford to bury our heros. No, instead, our legislators patch it up to make it easier on themselves only.

These decisions are either par or worse than what I could come up, but I'll do it for 1/2 the price and then we'll at least save some money.
