"For when we allow representatives, democrat or republican, such as Senator Harry Reid, and Rep. Nancy Pelosi to be in charge, then selfish, controlling, Power monger individuals will be taking over. Do they deserve our respect or votes?" -Ida

I don't know how much more proof is needed to prove that term limits would go a long way from keeping out the lobbyist influenced, career politicians that continue to toe the party line and refuse to negotiate. Polls consistently show that 75% of Americans support term limits and Congressional approval ratings hover around 5%. Yet we as Americans continue to re-elect our guys that are part of the problem. I suggest in the coming elections we clean house by voting out every incumbent and starting over.

"Where and when did we lose our rights to be free Americans?" - Ida M Temple

Right around the same time we'd elected our (first) Black President....right??

Maybe, it was when Al-Qaeda was ignored...we got "whacked"...and, then, "we" responded with the Department Of Homeland Security???

(THANKS!!...Glenn Beck...for making it "hip" to make accusations...posed as questions!!!)

Half the stated infringements are untrue. Most have a legitimate reason . Everyone seems to still have their guns. How do you prevent silent prayer ?T-shirts are limited due to obscene words, drug references or gang affiliations . I understand the "rights " argument but is a society without rules or very few possible ?

I agree with the writer. The only way we as a free nation will ever get back our freedom is to vote out all who are slowly taking it from us. "In the first recalls of state lawmakers in Colorado history, State Senate President John Morse and Senator Angela Giron were both removed from office Tuesday by voters upset with their stance on gun control."

More of this type of action is needed to let the politicians know that they are to serve the people, not the other way around.

Vote cautiously.

Ida, I agree, maybe we should take a lesson from the Prime Minster of Australia, she said this. "Immigrants, not Australians must adapt, take it or leave it. I am tired of this nation worring about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terror attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians. This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trails and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak mainly ENGLISH, not spanish, lebanese, arabic, chinese, japanese, russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language! Most Australians believe in god. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because christian men and women, on christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If god offends you, then.

The key is getting fresh faces to run for office. Finding people that have common sense, true conviction of thier beliefs, morals and honor that are willing to run are getting harder to find. True Patriots that will not cave to lobbyists are needed.Hopefully some will step forward for the good of this country.

... i suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because god is a part of our culture. We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us. This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and Our LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping, about our flag, our pledge, our christian beliefs, or our way of life, i highly encourage you to take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE! " "IF YOU AREN'T HAPPY HERE, THEN LEAVE! We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here, so accept the country that accepted you! "

Maybe America should put the smae speech out there for everybody Ida.

Grammie, I agree but the problem is a lot of good people made mistakes in their past, just like we all have. But the media and political campaigns latch on to those mistakes and drag not only that individual through the mud, but their loved ones. So truly great leaders in this country that are qualified for public office, often shy away in fear of putting themselves and their family through a smear campaign.

Ida, bless your heart..a voice from the wilderness that still is heard. What is meant to weaken us, has served to strengthen our resolve. The enemy is not outside our borders, rather within. Last count? We are still a majority, we are America and that is our spirit of hope that nothing can contain or destroy. Bring it on humanism, liberalism, socialism, progressivism and any other ism!

How and why do the lobbyists have so much power? These people should be banned from influencing our politicians. We elected the Representatives and Senators not LOBBYISTS.

Spike, I agree. I understand where Ida is coming from but a couple of examples stated, like you pointed out, rules are necessary to maintain order. However, a lot of freedoms that we have given up without question, are a result of 9/11 and the fear of terrorism. And the sad thing is, those are the goals of those that want to do us harm. They despise the freedoms we have and do everything possible to instill fear and eliminate those freedoms. I have always been against the Patriot Act and many other programs and policies that restrict or even violate our basic freedoms that too many have fought and died for and made this country great.

So, you're endorsing what?...extermination o' those "takers" on S.S.???

Remember...that would ALSO include the high-roller$/1%ers...who are doing QUITE well with their investments/dividends...but, still feel the "need" to grab every (other) penny they can manage.

Chucky you are so twisted. Since when was the Right trying to rewrite the Constitution. You are confused with your own party - you know, the ones who are trying to take away each Amendment one by one starting with the 2nd followed by the 1st. Obama thinks the Constitution is garbage and has even said that "it limits him doing what he wants to do." Well duh, that was written to protect us from people like him. Wake up you crazy old man.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! A Prime Minster who's (obviously) "forgotten" about Australia being an offshore British-prison, reminds me of a Bush-quote!!!!
