Misuse of the Bible

October 19, 2013

As I read the opinion column the other day, I found it interesting how a man misused the Holy Bible. I myself try not to measure a man by his political party but rather his character and intellect....

Ban On School Christmas Carols Upheld - The Huffington Post

"Silent Night" and other religious songs will remain off the program at holiday concerts in one New Jersey school district--and possibly others ..."

"Heathrow Elementary School in Florida has not only banned Christmas – but everything associated with the Christian holiday, along with traditional Christmas colors like red and green.

Again, do your own research. Plenty of stories just like these.

Oh, and let's not forget. The picture of CHRIST had to be covered at Notre Dame when Dumbama went there to make a speech. His delicate muslim feelings couldn't take such a shock. ---------------------------------

So Hilfirty, your opinion of "HUH? In what country? Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but not their own facts!" isn't worth diddly squat. Just more liberal BS.

HUH? In what country? Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but not their own facts!

SAN ANTONIO — Texas and the valedictorian of a San Antonio-area school have gone to court to allow prayer at Saturday's graduation ceremony.

Erica Corder forced by public school officials to apologize for expressing her religious beliefs in her valedictory address or lose her diploma, has asked the US Supreme Court to review her case and reverse a lower court’s decision that upheld the school’s violations of her religious liberties and constitutionally protected speech.

Many such stories.....look them up yourself!

According to WHO? In fact, WHO rates U.S. healthcare #37 overall!

Are you talking about taxpayer supported displays or functions maybe? How about for those of the Muslim faith?

Trying to grasp your meaning. If you mean their(Muslims) right to freedom of religion in America, count me in. If you are referring(as I believe you are) to liberals defending terrorist factions, then I believe you need to seek help.-Scott

"No political group misuses religion more than islamists." I think I know what you are trying to say. What makes me unsure is the world "political". I am not sure why you used it. In Islam, politics and religion are intertwined. If you had left out the word "political" I think it would have been clearer. Having said that, this comment has merit, especially for the current times. However, all followers of whatever religion you care to mention, have a long history of misusing their faith. Who knows what faith will take Islam's place in the future?

Would those that want the Christian Bible and Christian prayer and symbols in public schools and buildings give equal time and space to the Torah, the Quran, and other religious texts and symbols?

I find having a discussion about religion and politics seldom goes anywhere constructive, so I'll just comment on easy to verify facts ( if one was interested in verifying ).

Congress and other Federal employees are "not" exempt from the ACA (Obamacare).

Please feel free to verify this yourself, just don't use an opinion column to do it.

"experiment in democracy"

Sorry Sham I'll have to disagree with this one. Ours was an experiment in something all together different, it was called a "Republic", a "Constitutional Republic" to be more exact which is simply a self-governing people that placed certain limited duties on a federal government to administer and protect.

Agreed. Unfortunately, we'll (probably) have to wait until for-profit insurance-companies do some kind of "180"...and, start jacking-UP rates, AGAIN...as should be expected. Whatta waste-o'-time....

"I'm always amazed at how ignorant (too many) people are, regarding that.

The President ORIGINALLY preferred single-payer."

I too am amazed at the ignorance of many people when it comes to the issues relating to the health care act. So many do not realize this legislation was written by the same industry that effectually regulates your health care at the behest of Repubs and Dems alike. Born by the Heritage Foundation, and only supported by "liberals/progressives" because it was passed by a Democrat president and not supported by Republicans for the exact same reasoning. It is totally absurd. It was simply a ticket for the health care and insurance industry to transfer wealth upwards. While I would encourage and support a truly free-market approach we are at the point of no return where the only viable option now is to go to a single-payer system.

Carl, why weren't measures passed to reduce corporate welfare during the first half of Obama's presidency when democrats had full control?" - Capricorn1

Yeah...we SAW how "well" that worked-out, when the President started referencing the subsidies (to health-insurance companies), via BU$HCO's Medicare "D" hu$tle. -Shaman

As usual you use deflection, I'll ask again and even be more specific for you; what bills were introduced by democrats to reduce corporate welfare during the first two years of Obama's presidency when democrats controlled both the House and Senate?

This was meant as sarcasm, right??

No one could POSSIBLY be THIS stupid.

Conservatives are (TOO-much) plugged-into the whole "perpetual-forgiveness" trip. The LAST thing that concerns them is Karma (the Indian-version of "The Golden Rule").

Mr. Dudley, very good letter. America had the best health care system, it is no longer the best today. It would be more than fair to call our system of health care, Fascist, or more precisely, corporatist. Obamacare doesn't change this it magnifies it." - CarlHiller

*

I'm always amazed at how ignorant (too many) people are, regarding that.

The President ORIGINALLY preferred single-payer. DURING health-care negotiations, Republicans were ALSO fighting extending unemployment-insurance.

The final-deal? The President GOT UC extended...when he'd agreed to the present health-care system (as insurance-companies preferred); i.e. EVERYONE would be required to carry health-care insurance.

To "sweeten" the deal...health-insurance companies PROMISED lower-rates...due to increased-participation.

We already know how unchecked liberalism will deal with religion through their actions today.

Student prohibited from thanking God when they graduate.

Christmas banned.

Religious symbols must be hidden from public view.

People of faith ridiculed and denigrated while atheists are praised and protected.

So, when a liberal claims the Bible supports their ideology, it is clear that we are being deceived." - eriklatranyi

...And, most people are quite-familiar with the "conservative"/capitalist-variation on "The Golden Rule"; i.e. "He who has all the gold, makes all the rules."

Capricorn - Correct, both sides have issues with both objects I pointed out and many more. It was the reference that most can see due to the duplicitous behavior of both. Democrats are just as guilty as Republicans, as are Republicans just as guilty as Democrats. The whole point is that the Christianity is perverted by conservatives as well as liberals.
