"The requirement for all tenants to register with the city amounts to gross discrimination against a specific segment of our society."

Jeff, this is no longer a requirement as outlined in the ordinance that City Council approved.

I totally agree with what this gentleman said and he is absolutely right!!! In addition, what is the real motive behind the rental ordinance that we are not privy to besides social bias?? So, I can let a drug dealer reside at my house as long as I own it, how ridiculous!!!

They took out the registration of tenants u now have to get a free license , If u screw up u can lose your license, and ability to rent the building/ this plan may work, We have to try some thing jeff but u are absolutely right about the samll group of landlords who are ruining it for all of us, Now if we could get 40% of the city (non profits ) to contribute to the tax base , and the water authority to make the freeloaders pay their own water bills, Maybe the mom and pop landlords will start to turn a profit???

He's right. People are in court right now fighting this in other cities. I rent and stay pt of trouble so I won't mind having my fourth amendment rights violated to collect a check through a class action lawsuit.

Shulski, how will your rights be violated if you aren't required to register as a tenant?

I don't like it at the airport when kids and old people are subjected to pat downs, swabbing, and wanding either... It is all PC so that nobody can accuse TSA of "profiling" wild eyed Arab looking men with B Visas. Capt. Miller reported that 70% - that is SEVENTY percent of police calls and recalls are to rentals. As a person who also doesn't like the ordinance said to me... Police are known to lie. Really. The same person also said surveillance cams should be placed in affluent neighborhoods also. Makes sense right? Why discriminate in neighborhoods like Scott Street when there are probably white collar crimes going undetected on Grampian Blvd.!

The landlords, especially those out of town, are the problem. They should be more selective of who they rent too. Everything cannot be based simply on greed. Absentee landlords should be held accountable, just as those who commit crimes while renting off them should be.
