Emphatically false

October 20, 2013

This is in response to Richard Saunders’ letter titled “War on Christianity,” in which he claims “the policies of the Republican Party are anti-Christian” while “the party nearer to Christian belief......

"Pope comes out against ideological Christians. "

And, your point is?

You actually put stock in what any pope says....really Chuck? Your post was as Mike suggested, to inflame.

You are full it Mike. You made a post which is nothing more than a put down. Then you add insult to injury with how it isn't.

David- Haven't you heard? The Messiah has returned. He resides in DC with all the trappings of wealth and power to fundamentally transform the evil heathen United States into HIS vision of Paradise. The only(?) problem is that he can't promise eternal life, but he can promise a gov't agency that can deliver an early death.

Do you also struggle with that?" Yes, in a variety of ways.

Good post, Mike about the struggle with one admitting to be a disciple of Christ, but supporting the world's ideals.

Chuck I didn't put you down because of your party. You just don't get it. Most of your your comments, like the one below are antagonistic and meant only to flame the thread. You provide no facts no do you even attempt to provide a reasonable argument. It's been said hundreds of times; your only argument is 'I know you are but what am I?". It's childish and way beneath a man in his seventh decade.

Well Mike it would help if you guys did present facts yourselves and debated instead calling those you oppose all kinds of names like troll and putting them down for their party.

The constant call from the right that they are the only Chrisitans in government is a lie. The only way one can be a true Christian is to be of the conservative ideology. Bringing politics into a religion, any religion corrupts it. Even the Founding Fathers knew this.

ToTEXASfromPA-"The political party system has done a good job of dividing Christians because some moral elements of their platforms appeal to them. There are Christians in both parties. Christians ought to be promoting morality in both parties and holding their own party members accountable when they are not."

True. Taking care of the poor/needy is a Christian principle, and two Christians can have a debate over whether on not the government ought to be involved in that, and neither opinion is biblically wrong. Personally, I take pause when I hear someone professing Christ as their savior but supporting abortion rights and gay marriage. I don't mean to be judgemental, but I have a hard time seeing how one can be a follower of Jesus but support and affirm sinful behaviors. Do you also struggle with that?

Capricorn1-"Chuck, you need to expound a little bit with your thoughts. Your one liners are rather hollow."

Chuck has no thoughts on which to expand. His purpose with these cute little one liners is to troll and flame. Chuck could, at one time, debate with facts and thought provoking ideas. Not so much anymore.

The christian philosophy is that the individual has free choice. What we do with that choice is up to each person. We are now electing a government to make those choices for us. No more individual choices or ramifications from those choices.

I wonder what any God would think about that?

I don't know Christ personally, but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't approve of a system of "giving" that is designed to keep poor people, poor.
