I need to ask... which Ten Commandments?

The ten on this first set of tablets that Moses smashed... Exodus 20?

Or the second set that replaced the first, that one would assume is then carried in the Ark of the Covenant... Exodus 34?

34:27 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.” ~ 34:28 Moses was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.

Should have been a capital letter "F" starting the second sentence (since the one post on here veraciously attacked the "fragmented sentences and grammar of this letter."

Is it that the letter is painfully poignant for some. for whatever reason that evoked such negative outlash? I am disappointed in some of the lack of compassion displayed with these posts. The entire letter has its good points and bad suggestions. Here's my thought. Clearly this person might need some help, but do you throw the baby out with the bath water? Do we do that with each other who submit letters. Maybe, I just don't see something here, but I don't think the letter merited the fierce backlash it got.

Shulski, Congratulations, You've just eclipsed Sham and Chuck as the most vulgar, vile and moronic poster on this forum.-enigma

Are you out of your mind??? Do you read the same posts(with reading comprehension-I might add) as everyone else does??? You may not agree, like, or appreciate what was written, but to put it into competition with a certain other poster(whom gets agrees from some of the self-proclaimed moral people) is simply moronic. Please point out what bruised your dainty feelings so much-Scott

Shulski, Congratulations, You've just eclipsed Sham and Chuck as the most vulgar, vile and moronic poster on this forum. If you hate this area so much maybe you could move to someplace more agreeable to you, like Philly or Chicago. You might just find that there are "backward hicks" everywhere.

P.S. You are not the one to be lecturing about sentence fragments and grammatical errors.

Shul- maybe Steph wasn't the only one brought up in an isolated household. I grew up with a guy that was ready to fight anytime anywhere. Kick butt and take names later. Poor guy died of cancer years ago. I hope he got rid of his demons before the end................

We don't have to look at each other to insult each other anymore.-sideliner.

You hit the nail on the head, IMO. You should not post anything that you would not be willing to say "face to face" to someone.

Like I said only in this bigoted little town, where 9 out of 10 politicians are conservative, will the bigoted mobs promote fascism and go on a communist witch hunt. Then blame it all on libs when only 1 in 10 politicians are to the left. Backwards hicks

JohnZook: "extraordinary amount of disrespect for others that is so prevalent in the world."

So true. I attribute a lot of that to the anonymity and the non face to face encounters that technology offers us. We don't have to look at each other to insult each other anymore. It's a whole lot easier to be rude, disrespectful, and down right mean when I don't have to look you in the eye.

Unlike budget stalemates in the past, the two opposing parties talked to each other and they did it on a daily basis. This time, Obama and Boehner barely spoke to each other, It's easier to come to a meeting of the minds when you spend time together, get to know each other, and learn what drives each other. It's also a lot more difficult to be mean-spirited under those circumstances.

Roger: " Rehab simply has not worked here in Williamsport."

Do you have statistics to back that up? Compared to incarceration, what is the recidivism rate? I'm sure if you asked Judge Nancy Butts about the statistics and practicality of Drug/DUI/Mental Health Courts vs incarceration, she would argue your assertion, Roger.

A lot of anger there Shulski.... Only one Teabagger reference from Sham..... Oh, he's still protesting the Iraq war.... rose colored glasses on the libs...all is well, all is well, we've got healthcare now , thanks to Zeke Emanuel...and we've got the usual Bible bashing. It's a great day on the Sun Gazette!!

I too know Stephanie. She gave up her social life because of her parents health problems, so she was isolated from society and lived under a very strict upbringing. In this letter she uses maxims that are, or may be, new to us but were in general use "back in the day". I guess because she is not "hip", we can politely abuse her and not look at things the way our grandparents would look at society's so-called norms, and the extraordinary amount of disrespect for others that is so prevalent in the world.

Williamsport was never as clean as you idiots think it was. You idealize the past. There's always been plenty of violence. They just catch em' easier now. The 50s were a lot more violent than you think. You square heads just got away with it. Nazis

"What we need is justice in this state by start featuring (in public) all criminals, jail time and run out of town on a rail and dumped into the river to drown."

"I think you might be taking Ms Crayton's use of metaphors a little too literally. I would hardly characterize her as an "extremist loon"."

Surely I didn't take her words literally, but when a person tries to make a point by beginning with metaphorical rail-running and drownings, I'll just nod politely and move on.

In other words, a metaphorical drink.

Cheers!

I've known Stephanie for 15 years now, sometimes she has a different way than others of expressing her opinions but I have never considered her to be a "loon" nor have I judged her because of her opinions being different than mine.

Stephanie, I understand your frustration, but please get a grip. This kind of talk in private among friends can be useful in venting, but in a public forum like this a more serious tone needs to be taken and real plausible solutions offered. Again, frustration is understandable, but violent rants in public, not so much.

linhk48, As a matter of fact, I've known Stephanie for about nearly 50 years and I've never considered her an "extremist loon". I think you're been distracted by her metaphors and are missing the point of her statements.

Reeder. that is her real name. She doesn't seem to feel the need to hide behind a "nom de plume" (or "nom de guerre" as the case may be} as many of us do. I have to admire her for that.
