The only question

October 26, 2013

Today we’re governed from a position between the political right and the political left. Each side rants about the other side being extreme, but that’s just political posturing....

Hey Sham- I just saw on YouTube that there's a secret alien moon base on the dark side of the moon and its "manned" by giants. Check it out before the gov't taxes them to death!!!!

When it comes to hate, you could say the right hates tyranny and the left hates personal liberty, but the left by far shows far more hate for individuals and groups that threaten their policies.

That kind of mentality is divisive, destructive, and has no business in today's political culture.-sideliner

That of what you posted is true. This strategy/position, does however feed a group whom seem to thrive on hate.-Scott

Guess the Marine socially-engineered hats didn't work so we get this story to take our minds off of Marine covers, ACA, K.Sebelious, Amnesty, Benghazi, AP records, James Rosen @ Fox, IRS targeting, Fast & Furious, Stimulous, and on and on... All right-wing conspiracies 'ya know. Oh did I forget the Benghazi survivors who were given new identities and moved all over the U.S.? Hillary Clinton not being interviewed for the Benghazi investigation? Did you know it was all staged in Arizona to cover up the fact that these four were killed by Mexican rug lords in a "house of ill repute" in Mexico?

Darn right wingers; why don't the help Obama succeed just like Pelosi and Reed helped Bush succeed?

Chris Matthews just came out with his new book "Tip and the Gipper: When Politics Worked." Should be a very interesting read of a time when the only question voters asked was NOT about whether it leaned left or right. It was a time when governing actually involved "politics."

Politics infers debate and discussion between and among groups. That debate and discussion is happening less and less. Governing occurs by crisis these days with little actual politics involved.

"Choosing right or left leads to the same destination as history does attest."

Carl, you nailed it. As long as our votes are based on that left/right, Dem/Repub, etc mentality, we are doomed for more of the same partisan politics.

We, as voters, need to ask ourselves only one question. That is so true. But that question has to be more about how good/bad, helpful/not it is to us as a nation and as individuals. Period. Is it good today and how will it stack up tomorrow?

It's not about who and from which camp did this idea come from. From the beginning of Obama's first term there was a mission to tank every idea he came up with no matter how beneficial it could have been. That was the stated agenda from the top of the GOP, They made that agenda public.

That kind of mentality is divisive, destructive, and has no business in today's political culture.

Not only is she a pal of Michelle's but Valerie Jarrett's daughter and son in law work there too at CGI Federal. WOW I smell yet another Obama administration scandal brewing.

How many is this now, lets see 1..2..3..4..5..6..7........? Of course we all got answers to all of them right? Will Obama again claim that we will "get to the bottom of this" or will he tell us to keep his wife out of politics?

I didn't say things weren't getting done. I said we were locked in a stalemate. There is no real leadership in Washington. The only reason anything get's 'done' is because of executive order and bills that were passed prior to the House/Senate split during Obama's first term.

eriklatranyi- Question why was a Canadian software company used instead of an American company??? Your response to the executive being a friend of Michelle Obama answers that question without a doubt.

Carl, I believe you have a different perception of moving to the right than I intended in the letter. I see us as somewhere between right and left and we’ll continue moving in one direction or the other. Limited government and capitalism isn’t right wing statism; just the opposite. If you’re concerned with social conservative statism, you’re correct in saying it's as bad as liberal statism.

Wow Mike! I don't see how you can state that government has been in a "stalemate for years", that implies government doesnt get anything done, which is far from the truth. They do a lot more than they should. For decades government has grown requiring more money(debt/taxes), created the conditions engulfing millions into poverty, forced business to other nations, created an environment openly hostile to the average American, etc. This is not the nation of our fathers envisioned.

"The only question voters should be concerned with is whether they want to see government move further to the left or further to the right and vote accordingly." Not! Right-wing statism may be of a different color from left-wing statism, and each may be designed to appeal to a different set of voters with different interests and values but, Statism is statism, there is no difference. The real ? is do you want a constitutional government with less influence over your life or do you want to continue on the road to more government influence over your life? Do you want freedom and liberty or do you want tyranny?

Choosing right or left leads to the same destination as history does attest.

The problem is not a lack of compromise or the extremes.

The problem is we have an entrenched, ruling elite, with members from both parties, who carve up our tax dollars between them to ensure their power.

This ruling elite is not comprised of just elected officials, but members of our media and corporations.

Until the grassroots wake up, we will be forever subject to this ruling class.

Mike, As long as people continue to reelect the same old cronies that are unwilling to negotiate on both sides of the aisle, there will continue to be a stalemate and nothing will get accomplished. Government will continue to grow and spending will go unchecked. We should all be embarrassed by our representatives on Capitol Hill. Imagine how we must look from the outside looking in and we wonder why this country is loosing the respect from the rest of the world.
