It would be nice to see a list of the types of violations.

***

My neighbor got several violations from the subdivision for not getting approvals for a bird bath, bird feeder, and several flower pots by the architectural committee before putting them out.

I am sure the violations noted by a codes department are more severe but it would still be nice to see what they are.

There is at least one name on that list that has had many code violations for his business. To bad they allowed him to be one of the enforcers. But then again what can you expect he does think he is a Communist and is above the law. The laws apply to others. Oh and wasn't one of those drug related fires recently at one of his rental property's. UHMMM makes you wonder.

I am all for the enforcement, i pity any neighbor who takes pride in their property and has to put up with a dilapidated property next door. I think the city is on the right course and needs to stay the course.

Hopeforthefuture, you can hide behind pseudonyms and criticize others, but I suspect you are not without fault, and I am certain you have very little knowledge of the reality of anyone else's situations. So how do you know which properties are "drug" properties? Either you are involved in the drug trade or you do not know. What do you know about anyone else's business? Was there flagrant codes violations or were there extenuating circumstances. I am sure you do not know. But you are willing to sit here and anonymously criticize others. And I am certain you have absolutely no idea what communism is let alone who may think they are a communist. I suggest before you go slinging mud you become better yourself, your grammatical errors in this comment alone plus the uninformed content just shows your ignorance and childishness.

I normally would not comment to another post that doesn't relate to the subject at hand.

I make an exception to Judgeandjury...

You sure come out swinging as if you were offended by comments made by another and yet YOU are just as guilty of comments you claim another has done.

Drug activity is all around this community and turning a blind eye to it is just as bad as being involved with it. One does not need to do 'drugs' to know where or who may be doing them. Report what you know and 'maybe' the city drug task force will deal with the issue.

As to the topic of 'blighted' properties and the ones in violation I say 'good' for the city to start a clean-up.

I've been working on my 'one' property for the past twenty years. (with out any help from the city) I think it would be GREAT to see some of the properties get the improvements they need.

When I read the headline but before I clicked on the story I was pretty sure I would NOT see a list of exactly who these deadbeat landlords are. Nice surprise there, SG.

What these landlords are doing - well, not doing - is as much a crime as what is listed in the Police section and perhaps these names (and quite a few others) should be listed there, along with exactly what is wrong with their properties!

852 w3rd, that is in your neck of the woods mr. Lyons. It is also in the historical zone, and could not be demolished. Is it possible that this property is being cited because it nieghbors two of your rentals and you want to buy it mr. Lyons. Im just saying if the property is going to be aquired by the city and can not be demolished because of the historical district, what is the city going to do? Sell it to mr. Lyons that owns 8 other buildings on that block. This whole thing smells a little rotten

To Judge and Jury....maybe you should listen to your own words since you recently accused me of torturing animals and burning ants. Neither of which had any relevance to what we were even posting about, you just wanted to sling mud and anonymously criticize me!

Ah yes, more random and illogical concerns about my defense of an unknown person. Let's see, JRE6388, you accuse me of behavior that I criticize others of. Silliness. I ma defending an unknown person against uninformed attacks and mudslinging. Anyone who thinks they now about anyone else's private affairs is simply fooling themselves and making themselves look petty and ignorant. I have accused no one of anything except that behavior. Yes, the drug activity is bad, but if you have knowledge of this drug activity you are either complicit or you really do not know. Period. If Hopeforthefuture knows about drug activity then that person should report it to the police every time they see it, instead they choose to criticize a local business person with no apparent knowledge and even worse grammar. And BilltownB as much as I appreciate the impact I have on your ego by commenting on things here. And accuse? More a guess wouldn't you say? If the shoe fits...

Hopeless, the "person" you are referring to RENTS a portion of a very large and aged building. That is NOT the topic, nor concern, of this article. Recalcitrant landlords is the subject here, you know, people who don't care. They don't care about fire hazards, dangerous porches, unsightly properties. Now, let's take a look at the "person" you are referring to, whom happens to be a good friend of mine and you have insulted him, so I am now upset with you. The "person" you are referring to sits on the "nuisance property task force". Do you think that would be a "voluntee" position? Of course, it is. And one of many that this caring, involve, concerned, and compassionate person so selfishly gives his free time to.....how many countless hours a week do you give back to the community you love??

My apologies for the typos....of course, I meant selflessly. SG, could you break down and get spell check for the comments section?? People are taking time to comment because it is something that they are passionate about, thus much more focused on what they are saying then concerned about scrolling back up to double-check their post.

Somebody snow-jobbed you well Miss Mac.Self interest, purely self-interest. The previous owner of your friend's properties did more for the Historical District and less for his own pocket than your "friend" ever will. Most who know your friend find him to be rude, nasty and just a bit to full of himself. But I digress. I too, would like to see all the alleged codes violations.

And Spike2, you have misinterpeted moral fabric for rudeness, candid gentleness for nastiness, and pride for snobbishness. And how, pretell, do you turn volunteering on a (yet, nother) community advocacy group into purely selfish motives. Sure sounds like you have personal vendetta against someone trying to give back to his community. Please tell us what you have contributed to the community on your own free time.

I suspect Spike2 and many others on here that choose to speak so poorly of such a kind and giving person are simply jealous of success and community spirit. How you can turn volunteering into a greedy past time is beyond me, but hey, some people have no ability to discern between reality and their own little fantasy worlds. That appears to be the case here.

MissMac, - a Non-Profit. Self-funded. You do know it's better to get compliments from those who are not "friends" when looking at reputation among peers. There are many of us who own property, hire laborers and give to the community. Most of us have served on boards. I'm sure he i absolutely charming around friends. Have you ever heard how he talks to his "employees". Sorry, you can attempt to turn the tables, discredit my honest belief but I too call it as I see it.

Mis mac, he is citing this property for the reason that he can aquire it plane and simply. It is neighboring his other properties and he wants it. If it get shut down or the city aquires it, I promise you him and his partner mrs nassburg will buy it before anyone even knows it is for sale.
