LOL - Annie - I didn't lose my job. I watched it happen to others. Too funny. Here's what a friend, who is also a 20 year veteran teacher said about this - "I agree with ladydawg4... it is common practice for an employee preparing to retire to use accrued sick time until the date that gives them their last full year of service. Just had two custodians do it here last year. I do think he was given a "retire or else we will begin due process" type of ultimatum, but this is not an uncommon practice".

I'm glad I stopped by to read the SG online today. I decided to post this comment on both this News section and Taxpayers Beware by Mr. Pryor. Oh how funny, you silly one's. Anniegeturgun, they're all on the run! Gossiping in Church on Sunday, shame on them! Church and Politics do NOT go together. My family is the best from East to West! See how funny I can be! Don’t go pointing fingers and complaining in Public, at Public Meetings and on Public Forums, for the Karma Train is hitting hard. The Superintendent is on Sick Leave and then will resign at the end of the school year, now leave it be. For those of you that R NOW so concerned, why didn't you do something almost two years ago.

Side issue - I thought the student quoted on WNEP made some intelligent and insightful observations. She was complimentary.

Andy33 and ValleyDad - I appreciate your perspectives but disagree (your silly insults aside). It's not outside the realm of possibilities, as you are suggesting, that this individual continued to be a problematic employee in ways that didn't rise to garnering the attention of a media outlet (SG). That he was driving so intoxicated (.211) and demonstrated a cavalier attitude with the police does not reflect maturity and responsibility. It appears he's had multiple DUIs, etc. The evidence suggests some sort of "deal" for him to leave quietly. You're not incorrect that I myself may be incorrect. The way you're both talking, his past has no relevance in suggesting what may have happened currently.

From WNEP - “He is kind of an intense person who tries to follow rules. He tries to make sure everyone does the right thing and follows the rules, so it is kind of a surprise,” said Jersey Shore senior Alyssa Fink. She added it’s up to the school board to decide whether Emery stays on with the district, but to her, if the DUI charges are true, then Emery’s character is in question. “It’s not really a good thing to be looking up to.” "Parents who spoke to Newswatch 16 wanted to point out that Emery was superintendent last year when the district wanted to prevent a group of high school seniors from walking at graduation for being at a party where alcohol was served". Sounds like a winning kind of guy...

AWndy33 and ValleyDad987 - you are both clearly incorrect. I've witnessed what I talked about with PCT and the link jjs8282 sends the message that I'm probably right about Mr. Emery. He's sick alright - with alcoholism. Thanks jjs8282 for the revealing link about Mr. Emery.

The administration last evening presented a spirit filled agenda which involved the integration of community groups and businesses. Forget the past few years and move this district with the Bulldog Power we once had Dr. Chappel! Thank you for having the Bulldog Channel available to the citizens who cannot get out. Yes, "we are the orange and black!"

The man is sick. He earned sick time and vacation just like the rest of us who are employed. He is taking his sick time now because he needs it. He is resigning at the end of the school year. I don't see where this is unethical...
