October 30, 2013

Kudos to the organizers and participants of this year's Mummer's Parade on Saturday, October 19, 2013. Even with the inclement weather, the parade was a pleasure to watch....

Absolutely right IMO G Sgt." - Francine

Agreed!!! There's a HUGE difference (in outcome), between those lazy "The LORD will provide."-folks...hanging on to the thought of "hope and change"...and, those LESS-lazy ones that actually applied "The Lord helps those that help themselves."...in Kentucky.

Who knows WHY (some) "conservatives" were tempted to carry signs that said "Teabag the Democrats, before they Teabag you."????

Sounds a "little" Freudian, to me.

"Way to go Erik! You have the right to be reckless..."- CMReeder.

I would wager a fair amount of abortions are the result of exercising that "right to be reckless." - cheyenne

*

Not to worry!! You can still rely the "moralist-logic" that sees some "value" in punishing such "reckless"-behavior with forced-motherhood!!!

If you're REALLY "lucky", you might ALSO get the opportunity to convict that mother (eventually), for child-abuse!!!!

So, because taxpayers are on the hook for medical care, we now have the right to tell you how to live your life?

Really?

Is that the type of society you want?

Because Bloomberg uses the same argument to call for bans on salt, large sodas, etc.

Your position is an acceptance of the socialist state." - eriklatranyi

Erik...This was not an attack on anyone individually but rather an opinion on the recklessness of an act. Yes they are trained, yes they have parental consent and yes they have multiple practices." - CitizenQ

*

...AND, yes..."things" DO HAPPEN (like a missed-catch).

I've seen enough instances, of this (in videos, on T.V.), on basketball-courts, that'd suggest wet-asphalt would be no-MORE-safe.

Cheerleaders are not coerced into joining the squad.

There are consent forms that parents must sign.

There are coaches who train the cheerleaders.

There are multiple practices.

But people who were not part of this process want to put a stop to it because THEY think its dangerous." - eriklatranyi

*

I'm guessing...the potential for being comatose...from "diving" into wet-asphalt...WOULD seem "somewhat" dangerous to some people.

That reckless behavior does lead lawsuits. It would not be the government who steps in and says no it would be the parade organizers and their insurer.

"If i am driving down the road on my motorcycle and a car pulls out and I can't stop and I fly off through the air and bang my head on the street and am forever a vegetable requiring constant lifetime care, who pays? SSI? Which is us, the taxpayers."

And if that person has kids, SS will pay to raise them.

I know of one woman who has drawn SS checks for many years for staying at home and caring for that person.

"What strategy did Obama employ to cover up his lies about Obamacare?"--Ritty77

++

"President Obama tried a new tack Wednesday as he fought back against criticism of his Obamacare claims.

Fact-checkers and journalists have ruled that Obama wasn't being truthful when he claimed that people who liked their insurance could keep it. Obama during a speech in Boston sought to cast the issue Wednesday as trying to weed out "bad apple insurers" who don't provide enough coverage."--Washington Post

What strategy did Obama employ to cover up his lies about Obamacare? -Ritty

I actually feel sorry for everyone that was hanging on to the thought of "hope and change". Especially the minorities. To be poor and desolate and hanging on to the words from a well spoken black man that promises you that everything will be different, only to find out that it's just more of the same, must be extremely disappointing. Republicans need to be smart and have amendments to the ACA ready that make sense, so that when the inevitable happens, they have a solution to offer the American people.

What really makes me question this letter is these same cheerleaders that performed this routine, also do so at football games while fans are watching and cheering the cheerleader's peers, playing a game that has undisputed documented proof to cause concussions that are ignored for the sake of the game. I too love football, but let's stop being so hypocritical.

Francine, the first thing I'm going to say as a cheerleader is who are these people to decide for me what is unsafe or reckless? Have these people spent the hours with me training to get where I'm at today? How could they possibly know more about my capabilities and limitations than not only me, but my parents and my coach. I appreciate your concern, but please, enjoy the performance I trained so hard for.

Everyone involved made an informed choice and gave their consent.

Yes, Mr. Reeder, you have the right to be reckless!

But, unlike liberals, I believe when you exercise that right, you also accept the responsibility for the consequences and those should not be shifted onto others.

The exercise of your rights does not create a liability on me.
