Halloween prank

October 30, 2013

A Halloween prank was pulled on us the night of Oct. 17. We had three of our decorations stolen from our front porch. A 3 1/2-foot witch in a black silk and lace gown and witch’s hat....

I hardly think the perpetrator would be one intelligent enough to read the paper and especially the letter to the editor section

That's not a "prank". That was theft.

'Tis true.

It's quite possible the perpetrator was a fundamentalist-Christian...who's (only) read one book.

If you have, someone else wants to take, it is the sorry state of the world today. I don't see it getting any better, people, some, have no respect. Parents, some, teach no values or respect. Better get used to that.Give to me, that is what gov't teaches today.

How sad. It's not like these items have big value to anyone other than the owner, so money was not the motivator. This was simply an act of meanness.

With the Liberal doctrine educated Shaman what else would we expect. He doesn't understand that people who ACCUALLY help people of their own free will do not steal. His ideology is for someone else to help those in need but never himself and the lambaste them for caring. Typical.

Sometimes I think we over exaggerate things. Granted this is an unacceptable behavior, but things such as this have been going on since we were children. Mailboxes being smashed, houses toilet papered pumpkins smashed, stealing the other schools mascot statue, the list goes on and on. We are ignorant to think these things are only all of the sudden are starting to happen.

Then the LTE would have read.....Halloween decorations swapped out for nativity scene!

Actually, it is a shame that the lady's joy and the joy she wanted to provide to children was also stolen.

When I lived in Williamsport we had decorations stolen but it did not deter me from decorating. I minimized the decorating and brought them in at night and returned them the next day.

That 3 ft. animated figure could have easily been brought in off the porch. Carved pumpkins can be replaced.

Then you can always dress up and sit on you porch and wait for the pranksters. You out prank them. Then chase them down the street holding the very pumpkin they came to smash.

No...it's (typically) "conservatives" who have the long track-record; against "witchcraft".

As much as it pains me, I agree with shammy that it is theft. And, immediately afterward, I am reminded of his small mind and callous ways of referring to anyone who practices religion, especially Christianity. And, Chuckles thinks it is ok to keep putting out more stuff--"pumpkins can be replaced"--so the animals can have more fun, I guess this explains his propensity for pushing for more and more tax money to give away to those who will not attempt to provide for themselves except to look for more free stuff.

The author should check the local pawn shops to see if the items were fenced quickly in exchange for money to buy drugs.

Mr. Reeder:

You are saying that the theft is the fault of the homeowner because they did not bring their things inside at night.

Wow. Liberalism on display!

If you are too lazy to bring them in instead of leaving them out 24/7 then quityour*******. -Reeder

Chuck, it has nothing to do with laziness, it has to do with your trust in your fellow man and hoping for their common decency and consideration. I would rather still have that hope and lose a few dollars if a few choose to be stupid. A lot of people decorate for the holidays and I think for the most part, not many have problems, which speaks for itself.

Trust in your fellow man!

That is funny coming from Mr. Neighborhood Patrol.

There are ways to foil pranksters. If you do nothing why would you let that ruin the holiday for you?

If you choose not to prevent theft then you have no common sense. Which describes Erik, no common sense just hypocritical ideological nuttiness.

Chuck you obviously stay sheltered during the Christmas holidays and aren't aware of all the outside lawn decorations throughout the city. Take a ride over to South Williamsport and checkout Candy Cane Lane. Do you really expect all of these people, including myself to take these decorations inside every evening? And if we don't then we're just lazy and have no common sense? I would have to question who is using common sense here.

We'll let us be honest here, if you did bring them in you would still have them...right? I used to see this guy in the Muncy area take his mail box in every night. One morning on my way to work, mail boxes all along were smashed except this one and that was because he just put it out.

The liberals here say honest citizens should change their behavior because criminals exist.

No outrage over the crimes. No condemnation of the criminals. Just chastising the honest citizens for not cowering in fear of criminals.

Liberal utopia on display!

Are you serious? What really leaves me stunned about you and Chuck is you refuse to even think that there are many people in this country that would even think about taking advantage of government programs, but when it comes to folks decorating their homes for the holidays, we shouldn't be surprised about people taking things that don't belong to them...
