LTE: "The eradication of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights" "contribute to the downfall of the U.S."

Call ME crazy, but this just doesn't make sense. It is alarmist, extreme, and false. Does the author actually believe that two terms of one particular president can unravel 200 years of progress? Oh ye of little faith in this "Grand Experiment."

Gimme a break here, please.

And the people cry, "pan y circa!" (bread and circus!) as the walls of Rome fall.

Just as Roman citizens screamed for more government goodies while their world was collapsing around them, about half of the American population also feels they have a right to unearned federal bennies.

Oh, pishaw! Who needs a work ethic and that dusty old Constitution, huh?

"panem et circenses" really fits what's going on now. Keep the masses distracted by reality TV and freebies. The Romans used arena games, chariot races, and grain doles.

We're on a precipice. More people are not working than are working, and record people are eligible for government benefits. It's an unsustainable trend.

We can turn the ship, but it's going to take cooperation between the 2 major political parties. I don't see that happening, and it's sad. That leaves only one question - will it be a fast collapse, or a long slow collapse lasting decades until finally we're all sitting in a third world country?

We are losing this nation slowly.

It is not two terms of a lying, deceitful President Obama that caused all this. He is just the latest and most radical at eliminating the rule of law in favor of the rule of men.

The problem is we have elected men without conscience or character.

Whether it be FDR trying to stack the supreme court, Nixon breaking into his rivals campaign, Clinton taking advantage of an intern or Obama seemingly not aware of anything going on under his leadership.

These are men without character and conscience, looking to their own power and enrichment, not the welfare of this nation.

Until we stop treating politics as if it is no different than Penn State vs Ohio, we will continue to elect men of little character.

And to think it all started in a cave in Kenya when Barrack Husain Obama (if that really is his real name) was born and he became the worlds youngest sleeper agent. Babies do sleep a lot after all. It was all cake work after that, raise him in one madras after another till his grades where good enough to get him into Yale, print up a fake birth certificate, get him elected the first Black President (that was thinking ahead) and the rest is history. The stone age commith.

As usual, ridiculous. Make a real argument. No matter the party, don't expect the next President to receive any more respect than our current President. Once we stop having any respect for our elected officials, and like it or not Obama was elected, respect for the office will never return. Ever. Good job everyone.

"I can't say enough about the Benghazi Cover-up; how four Americans were left to die and the survivors have disappeared. Or was it the Republicans and George Bush's fault? Just ask the media." - Gregory Weigle

Pretty obvious here sideliner that we all realize that YES there is a particular president that is using his executive order and going against the constitution that he swore on the bible to uphold. And yes, unravel 200 years of progress. He is a fraud and a liar and if you don't believe that, your head is stuck in the sand.

Where was all the outrage and demon for respect when Bush was in office? And btw, one can't demand respect, they must command respect and that requires leadership. Something I think is lacking in the current administration. It's not all the fault of Obama though, leadership is a learned trait through experience and nothing in Obama's past has given him that experience. We need to be smarter about who we choose to be a leader of this country and ensure they have the qualifications to do so.

A good start would be for T-Baggers to recognize that...gridlock hardly (that's "not hardly", for Bush-fans) qualifies as a "leadership"-skill.

Leadership starts from the top down. Obama shares blame for this gridlock.

Respect is something that is earned, not allocated because of a title. Obama has lost the respect associated with the Presidency. He and his administration have twisted, turned, and lied to the people that they now demand respect from! How can anyone blame the citizens of the USA for the lack of respect this president and his administration have?
