As a library staff member at Bloomsburg University, this is a question we deal with frequently. The simple answer is "Yes, the physical library is still needed."

Even in today's high tech, online, instant access world, there are still many reasons cyberspace just cannot replace the physical space. Whether it is teaching patrons how to use the online tools that are out there now, creating "makerspaces" where people can learn to create new and exciting ideas and inventions, or simply offering up years of expertise and a carefully planned, locally influenced collection, the traditional library remains useful.
