What’s really wrong

December 5, 2013

Much is said about police, courts and prisons doing their job of protecting us from wrongdoing, but society’s customs, traditions, and moral values are what really work to make society safe and......

What is going on in a young person's mind to think doing this to someone is a good thing? Whatever happened to parents teaching thier kids to have respect for others and thier property? You can't blame the current day Violence in Movies,TV and Video Games, in our day we saw just as much violence in westerns, cop/detective shows and war movies. We were also taught these were just shows and not to be re-created in real life.We were taught to be good people and that honor, pride, a good work ethic and patriotism were good things to have.We were taught to treat others as we would like to be treated. We were taught to be the best person we could be, and that anything was obtainable as long as we were willing to work hard for it. Just what are parents teaching thier kids today?

Grammie, I couldn't agree more. It all starts at home and what is being taught or not being taught. This knockout "game" is not a game and if the evidence warrants it, it should be prosecuted as a hate crime just as some jurisdictions are doing.

Parents?!

what parents?

The number of children in single parent homes is at record levels.

There are no parents today at all, not parents failing to mold children into responsible adults.

"but the knockdowns are filmed and posted online as bragging points."

++

These postings show the "me first", "look at me", "look at how great I am" selfish pride on display that permeates much of our society.

Jesus taught us that the greatest commandment is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. And the second is to love your neighbor as yourself. This is what we should do.

The perpetrators of these crimes are the same people who are constantly told that they're not getting a fair shake, that they are poor because others are rich, and that we are a nation of racist cowards.

A New York councilwoman says that they target Joos because of envy, so it's perfectly understandable. A man who works for this administration published a web site that proclaimed blacks need to kill a lot of whites, yet he still has his job.

Flash mobs are taking want is rightfully theirs and people are getting sucker punched because they deserve it. Why are we surprised that low information Democrats think this is appropriate, even necessary, behavior?

Once again, when have absolutely nothing else on subject, you use deflection. As you like to say, you aren't fooling anyone. I could only imagine your ramblings and conviction if this was whites knocking out blacks for no other reason than hate. It cuts both ways Skippy and should be given the same attention either way. Yet many cities are tip toeing around the issue and of course our AG and the administration who have played the race card in the past, are silent. It is what it is but you go on defecting it. You accused the right wing of getting pleasure out of this violent trend yet when asked for examples, you were silent. Put up, or shut up.

OH...really....who cares what Shaman says.....U got suckered again...AWAY from a VERY SERIOUS subject. Open violence disguised as a 'game'...it's just pathetic. Homegrown terrorists!!!...is it safe to go to the store, bank or anywhere in public alone!....the police say don't go out alone...looks like the terrorists have WON.....maybe one good reason for grammie to 'carry' and pop to 'pack'.....people have a right to protect themselves.....this is just insane!

First, it is not the Knockdown game, it is the knockout game.

Second, while it is morals that keep people from committing crime, where are they learned is not the issue here. The issue is where do they come from? Telling someone that it is wrong to sneak up behind someone and administer a severe blow to the head is wrong, without telling them why will not help. It is no mere coincidence that the increase in violence has paralleled a decrease in religious belief. Morals based on what you prefer are useless. Only morals based on the laws of an eternal God are worth having. Your ideas of right and wrong mean nothing if it is just your opinion, they need to be based on something that transcends human thinking. Until people realize this and get back to God, things will continue to deteriorate.

Knockout is different from Flash Mobs. No warning with Knockout, not one minute to react. Stealth is part of the "game". We can rummage through the closet of "reasons" but this is a very serious matter. How does one protect themselves? These assaults frequently have more than one player although one throws the punch. Is this a situation where a firearm could be a detriment? I agree with Andy's comment in total.

I guess we grew-up, during different eras. I grew-up during the '50s, when we were TAUGHT "...to treat others as we would like to be treated. We were taught to be the best person we could be, and that anything was obtainable as long as we were willing to work hard for it."

What we WEREN'T told was that the "game" was "fixed"...that (before Civil Rights legislation was passed), it was QUITE acceptable to "cut" a SIGNIFICANT-portion, o' the population, OUTTA the "game", when it came to jobs/education...and, THAT'S the "country" that T-Baggers want to "take back"; one, where minimal-effort was requi

Shaman- I think we are pretty well versed on what the Democrtas are thinking (Although "thinking" may not really be the word to use), It is on full display what is acceptable to them. It is sickening where they are taking this country.

I , for one, did have "teachers" who set great examples. They lived the way they taught us to live. I am forever grateful for that. I'm sorry if you didn't have the same environment to grow up in.

Whats really wrong is that people are having children who should not be having children. Those people have more than likley been brought up by other people who should not been having children either, the chain needs broke somewhere.
