Disappointed too

December 6, 2013

While I was reading the article, “Judge declares mistrial in rape case,” I was slapped in the face with the cruel reality of the level of ignorance on this subject the “lone juror” displayed....

The letter was not informative, it was an opinion. The ladies would have testified ad it contained actual first-hand information. A single juror can be correct. Someone, on one side or the other is always unhappy with a verdict.

How many jurors blamed Nichole Simpson and Ron Goldman, the victims?

I know what is far worse than "civilized people" blaming the victim in a rape case......that is for "civilized people" to presume guilt before knowing the evidence.

"that is for "civilized people" to presume guilt before knowing the evidence."- eriklatranyi.

Or even worse... Continuing to push for a verdict of guilt, while hiding evidence of innocence, to support a political agenda and career.

See: Mike Nifong and the Duke U. lacrosse team rape case.

Yea, two yesterday and two today. I guess people are leery about writing letters these days in fear of what a bunch of hooligans like us will say! LoL

I am thinking this all could have been avoided if the "victim" had not consumed so much alcohol. At some point people have to be accountable for their own actions.

So if you consume too much alcohol it is permissible to be raped? One person's lapse in judgement doesn't negate others lack of judgement.

NO. That is not what my comment was intended to imply at all.

Sorry but that is exactly what you said, her consumption of alcohol lead to her rape and she is the one to be held accountable for it not the one who raped her.

upeoplercrazy,

I understood exactly what you implied. Often people will read into what is said, as opposed to what is said.
