Dawn is also an excellent pre-spotter for hydrocarbon-based laundry stains.

Mr. Reeder, I would snow blow the sidewalks and shovel the steps, to apply it I had a squeeze bottle, like a drink bottle that I got at Family Dollar then after it melted I would use my straw broom and sweep it up and then put down kitty litter.

I also use Dawn on my indoor plants and in my power washer when I do the siding on the house, another great product for outdoor cleaning is Purple Power.

When would you apply before or after? Do you spray it on or do you pour and sweep?

I forgot something, on my wooden steps to our deck Dawn made the steps to slippery, so I had to use Non Slip Stair Treads and I would apply kitty litter for more traction.

When I lived in Plunketts Creek we had new sidewalks and steps put in and the owner of the company recommended that I use Dawn and rubbing alcohol, I was very surprised when it worked and it was not slippery.

Here's the recipe; 1- teaspoon of Dawn 1- tablespoon of rubbing alcohol that makes 1/2 gallon but I would make 5 gallons at a time, then I would put down kitty litter.

I will try most anything once. What is the ratio of dawn and vinegar to water and when can you apply it?

I use ice-melt followed with a bucket of water containing Dawn dish detergent and vinegar which keeps the walkway clear of ice.

"I went down hard at a client's house up Poco Farm Road on Tuesday. The snow itself was slippery enough, but the hidden ice got me. Didn't hurt really...until Wednesday morning."

By now, many gimmee, gimmee, gimmee people would have already contacted a lawyer!

"Is it just me or do people on here seem to be nastier, maybe it's the holidays causing it."

I am under the impression that it is the 'white trash' causing it. Maybe it is the combination of 'white trash' and the holidays.

"It's no wonder everyone thinks Williamsport is full ignorant white trash after reading these kind of posts. Your a Real American zero!"-Yoxtheimer

Maybe before you talk about ignorant white trash, you should learn the difference between your and you're. Or you could just change your handle to Yoxthedumbox.

Not everyone thinks that Williamsport is full of people like you.

Here's a bit of advice for you if we all "embarrass" you in some manner.... avoid the editorial section and these comments. That way you don't have to be subject to us "ignorant white trash". Oh, and say hello to all your "intellectual" friends on the "other side of the tracks" for us.

Seems people don't clear their sidewalks as diligently as they used to. Or maybe I'm just noticing it more now that I'm elderly.

I quite trolling as this character Erik. I'm now listening to conservatives and being a 'good guy'. I value a small, efficient gov. and think the Tea Party has some valid concerns that need to be taken very seriously. I just made this character goofy for giggles. Making the RealAmerican into a nationalistic, ultraconservative made me realize you folks are more moderate and liberal than ya'll realize. Each individual has their own sets of views that does not neatly fit into either "left" or "right" ideology completely. Now, that's the real America I know.

Ice is slippery. Salt melts ice. Thanks for the valuable information. How would I get through life without this kind of LTE?
