You have probably noticed a wide range of behavior from Christians and alleged Christians. Do not let these messengers get in the way of the biblical message of God and Jesus Christ.

I am sure that you could probably admit that you have sinned against God (of course you may or may not agree/deny that He exists; that naturalism barrier). God says the wages of sin is death, a spiritual death and eternal separation from Him. But He also offers eternal life, a peace, a comfort, hope and love for those that will say "God I am a sinner and I accept the sacrifice of your son as payment for my sins. I trust in this gift and promise; I trust in you. Please accept me into your kingdom." MrShaman, put your pride aside and ask Jesus into your heart. When will you stop pushing Him away?

What you are proposing is a works-based religion. An extreme, non-Christian example to demonstrate the concept is the terrorist straps a a bomb to their body to kill infidels with the promise that they will please their god and spend eternity in heaven." - ToTEXASfromPA

Agreed!!! Organized-religion encourages people to do some pretty-whacky-things...with the promise of an afterlife (as the "Big Pay-Off")...for any-and-all folks who have an infantile-dread of Death.

Christianity as laid out in the Bible shows that salvation is not works based; it is a gift of God that you can not earn (see Ephesians 2:8-9). In some cases, Christians have died for their beliefs; in fact, 11 of the 12 disciples of Jesus were killed in some way. Martyr is some man-made term to glorify the man that was killed and leave some legacy. The disciples that were killed did not do it to bring attention to themselves but instead were faithful to Jesus/God until the end. This is true belief. MrShaman, I hope that you will allow Chr

Because, too-many (supposed) "Christians" have developed the ability to combine their overactive-imagination...with their need for some kind o' martyrdom.

I'm guessing their purpose is to make a BIG SHOW (of their "Christianity"), at the end o' the year...to compensate for how little, of their "faith", is demonstrated throughout-the-year...or, it's always possible this process is merely a garden-variety need for attention (also due to their own inactivity, previously, that year).

I think MOST people have tired of their (newly-"found"; over the last-few-years) "trials & tribulations". When (and, how) their maturity/development were so fully-arrested is still a mystery....but, the "Axis Of Ignorance" has always managed to "stand-by them", or (more-accurately) SHOWN THE WAY.
