The health care experience

December 23, 2013

Kudos to Mr. and Mrs. Ed Zygmunt. Thank you for taking the time to search for a new healthcare policy under the Affordable Care Act. Many people have found out this same truth....

I signed up last night. Website worked perfectly. Got a silver plan. Cost is about three times what my old policy was, but cost to me will be less. Haven't received confirmation yet from BC/BS, nor have I been asked for payment. I'll be following up with BC/BS by phone later today to make sure we are all on the same page.

Good luck. I would be interested in what information was asked for in the process. I for one still do not trust the website to be secure. Having had a problem with a debit/credit card being hacked I am reluctant to go down that road again.

The liberal cheerleaders will be writing these letters over the next year in hopes of propping up this disastrous, Democrat-only legislation.

Like a true liberal, they take a shot at the news for not being a propaganda piece for Obamacare.

This is an excellent letter and I'm surprised the editor allowed it, albeit with an "editors note." I've found the same to be true with the sungazette. They simply don't take into consideration that this program will help many more than it will hurt and the majority of people voted for President Obama with healthcare reform in mind. Here is one thing the extreme right wing should keep in mind, the ACA is the LAW! Just like any other major law, social security included, it will take a bit to get moving properly especially with the sabotage by the right, setting up false websties, etc. He's trying to help the country and with the mess that was left to him (15 trillion in debt) he'd doing a darned good job. The only people complaining are the wealthy and due to their greed, they're NOT the majority anymore.

The Editors are entitled to their opinions and to express them and the paper does cover the news about Obamacare like other media outlets.

Ill go with Ritty's representation. We all "know" Ritty, know he is real, read his posts at least once weekly. Ritty can't be labeled a liberal. Sounds like a good policy. Maybe Ritty could update us from time to time.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Just when the government's insurance website is starting to run more smoothly, an Associated Press-GfK poll finds a potentially bigger problem for President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.Americans who already have coverage and aren't looking for any government help are blaming the law for their rising premiums and deductibles.Sixty-nine percent say their premiums will be going up, while 59 percent say annual deductibles or copayments are increasing.

Sounds fair.

Three years to build sign-up software at a cost of close to one BILLION dollars, all to friends of Michelle, and it STILL DOESN'T WORK!!!! Thank you readers for your anecdotal experiences; I hope the site continues to work well for YOU! I hope your experience is just as satisfying a year from now when you are able to see YOUR doctor and go to YOUR choice of hospital.

"Insurers can extend current plans that otherwise would have been cancelled into 2014." --President Obama

Ritty77, whatever happened to your previous policy? Did you check back with your insurance provider?

When you say "cost to you is less", is that less than the cost of the Silver Plan or less than cost of your previous plan?

If cost to you is less how much more is being picked up by taxpayers?

Sorry for all the rapid fire questions just trying to get a more complete picture.

As I've said before, there will always be some 'success' stories, but tell that 'success' story to the nearly 6 million who got termination notices. Even the blind squirrel finds the acorn sometimes.

I have read most, if not all, the news articles in the SG regarding ACA. They have always been informative and without any editorializing.

That means that I'll be picking up the rest of the cost. Well, me and anyone else who actually pays taxes. I'd like to say, "you're welcome", but I don't remember you saying, "thank you". In fact, I don't remember you even asking. You just had Obama pick my pocket for you. A lot of us will not only be paying for your insurance but have to pay the three times cost for ourselves, and don't forget the 5X increase in deductibles. It turns out that the Affordable Care Act isn't affordable and you won't get any care, but they act like they've done us a big favor.

Maybe the letter writer had a good experience with the ACA, but it is all based on redistribution, so someone else is going to pay more so the letter writer can brag about her experience. This is socialism and it will never work. Never has, never will.

"with the mess that was left to him (15 trillion in debt)" - SilverFeather

Another clueless liberal. The debt was about 10 Trillion when Obama took over and he immediately increased the rate of borrowing, spending and taxing. At the current rate, he will have more than doubled the debt during his Presidency. There is no fact that the left will not get wrong to believe that this disaster is doing a good job. Even most liberal media outlets are now admitting that he is doing a terrible job. Chris Matthews (mister chill up the leg) himself, has called Obama the year's biggest failure. Everything he touches turns to crap, but the brain-dead keep cheering for him.

Really?

Then how does the President have the authority to re-write it every week or so to accommodate its failings?

So is Second Amendment. So is DOMA. So are laws that require deportation of illegal immigrants. So are hundreds of laws that Obama is refusing to enforce and trying to change. So what is your point? Bad laws should be changed or eliminated, but only the Congress has the authority to do that. But don't bother liberals with facts, it just gets in the way of what they believe.

I agree with the letter writer. I blame the local newspaper for all the problems with Obamacare. It is their fault that the national and state site doesn't work correctly. I also feel the paper is responsible for all the rain we received this weekend. I sure hope they don't stop Christmas. If I don't get the gift I want, it is the newspaper's fault. And if I don't have two pieces of cheese on my sandwich, they are also to blame. Happy Holidays!

Sir, the letter writer did not in fact say that, but I find it interesting that You believe the SG is responsible for that long list of grievances.

"I would be interested in what information was asked for in the process."

Very basic stuff. Mine went quick because of zero dependents and no disabilities. Many fields are optional, in fact, surprisingly optional, like SSN. There was an optional SSN field at three points during the application, two times I left it blank.

The third time they asked, they said "entering your SSN will really, really be helpful in verifying your information" or some such, so I finally put it in. I left very few fields blank, because it was very basic stuff.

Website is bare bones, big fonts, big buttons, just a few questions per page, quick like a bunny. Took me about ten minutes, tops.
