I used the U-Scan at Giant last year and asked for $100 cash back.

In my haste, I forgot about the money dispensed and went out to the parking lot.

I remembered and ran back into the store and the money was gone.

It is unfortunate that so many seek short-term gains over long-term happiness.

I would be willing to help this man out but I looked in the phone book and did not find an address. Does anyone know how to give this man help?

@eriklatranyi - Please consider the possibility that Mr. Valvano did not want his information published here.

I'm sure that what you found is publicly available, but it might make this gentleman uncomfortable to have it associated so closely with this incident.

This guy is disabled. I know people may want to help him out but should we really be putting addresses and other info on someone in a public forum?

While I feel for his situation something is amiss here with this story. Who runs around with a large sum of money to pay bills any more? There are much easier ways and safer ways to pay bills especially for the disable.

I have found money at self check out lanes at the grocery store and have turned it in. You would not believe the money people leave. If you can not handle cash don't use it to pay for purchases.

Maybe a better way to help this gentleman would be to contact the local Veterans Rep. downtown and ask him if a fund could be set up to help him this way it would have been more private.

How inconsiderate of you to allege something is amiss in this situation. First of all you question why someone would "run around" with a sum of money in today's world......that is non f your business.

Secondly, assuming he is a veteran, you show no respect for that info.

thirdly, what would be his motive considering he didn't supply personal info. to gainer any interest in his cause?

that's strange...last year I was at a self check out at Giant, found money left behind from a "cash back" transaction and turned it over to one of the cashers. was for $100.00.
