A Native American Racism Proverb.

A Native American grandfather tells a young boy he has 2 wolves inside of him struggling with each other.

The first is the wolf of peace, love and kindness. The other wolf is fear, greed and hatred.

Which wolf will win grandfather asks the boy? Whichever one I feed replies the grandfather.

Bobbie thought that was so clever that she had to post it twice. She must have it on speed text.

Must be a miserable existence she lives. But at least when her attention is on me, she's not off making racial slurs and remarks against minorities.

You are only fooling yourself Mr.Kerstetter to say how gracious you were even if you had not recieved any benefits, give me a break. Who were you gracious to? No matter what you say it was wrong for the govt to do that and again that is the purpose of the letter to the editor to voice your view on things that effect you or people that you know. Thanks for the laughs Mr.K but you are now boring me so I will take my views and go, until next time I will tell you one thing I am grateful for and that is my wonderful family and friends and not having to deal with closed minded and compassionless people such as yourself. I chose to go and spend the time with my 9 year old who has more sense than you. Peace

Apparently you don't know the difference between entitlement (feeling you are owed something) and graciously accepting that which is offer you. I've explained in in every possible way I could think of. You either can't grasp it or are purposely ignoring what you are reading.

I was grateful for the help I received. I would have been grateful for 26 weeks. If I was not eligible for any help I would have been OK with that. I'd have made due the best I could. What I wouldn't have done is write a letter to the editor saying how awful it was that the government didn't extend benefits or wasn't keeping me or others. I was grateful, not entitled. Therein lies the difference.

Who is more irresponsible someone who works part time while collecting benefits for 6 months or someone who collected UC benefits for 13 months and did not work? Who is the entitlted one here Mr. Kerstetter?

You seem to be using straw-arm tactics yourself, because I wrote a letter concerning unemployment comp. you have pretty much called me irresponsible and entilted but yet you can not answer a simple question of why it took you 56 weeks to find a job? I am just trying to understand your logic but I doubt that will ever happen. You are the one who is taking words that are written out of context. If you are not against UC benefits what is you problem? Did you work at all while you collected for 56 weeks?

LauriH-"I just find it funny that you are so against emergency unemploymentbenefits"

I never said I am against UC benefits. You keep saying that I am against UC Benefits then basing your argument off of that statement. It's called a straw-man argument. Not one time did I say nor imply that I was against UC benefits.

Mr.K I am sorry that you feel that I portray myself as entitled not that it matters in the scheme of my life and you do a fine job portraying yourself in the light that you described, not me. I just find it funny that you are so against emergency unemploymentbenefits but your hand was out when you recieved 25 weeks over what regular UC benefits are. If you read my letter again I stated that when I went to career link for one of the meetings the young lady heading up the class said the average person who had lost their job it took an average of 31 weeks to find a family sustaining job so if our roles in this were reversed you would have lost your benefits after 26 weeks. So how would you have paid your bills the 7 or 8 months that you would not have been able to collect? You said you collected for 56 weeks, again if jobs were so plentiful why did it take you up until the last day of benefits before you found a job? Why cant you answer that?

"How many people applied for that 1 position? There are more unemployed there are positions to be filled." -CMReeder

I agree with that, what causes it is where we would disagree.

Yes, I said "IF you held out for a dental job'...... But you clarified that when you said they edited your LTE and later when you said you found a job and collected less than 26 weeks. Then I asked what your beef was if you found a job in less than 26 weeks. To which you replied that you were getting partial benefits that were cut off, and asked if I was abused by someone who collected unemployment.

I stand by my comments that you portray yourself as someone who is 'entitled'. But I never once said that you shouldn't get UC benefits that you qualify for. You've done a nice job trying to portray me as someone with a reading comprehension problem and as someone who is uncaring. But your straw-man arguments aren't holding water when you look at the facts.

Stick to your guns!! You present your self very well--although I may be slightly prejudiced, my wife was a dental hygienist for many years.-Scott

Mr.K you read my letter and decided to put in that I felt entitled which I never wrote. I merly said that yes after I lost full time employment, unemployment benefits helped my family get through some rough spots as you did in the 80s. When you were out of a job you relied on those same benefits as I am, so you also felt entitled or did you turn them down? Apparently not because you collected 56 weeks double the time I have collected partial benefits. You stated that it was my own fault that I sat around and let my UC benefits run out and now I am whining about losing them. Really I dont whine you sound like my benefits are coming directly out of your check. AS I said I pay in sir just like you and feel the benefits should not be held political prisioner by the govt. Like I said, you had no right to complain after collecting 56 weeks and I would have fought for your loss of benefits to but I was in 8th grade.

Bornhere that is why there is such a turnover for those jobs. They need to pay better and give much more extensive training or you just get applicants warm bodies so to speak to fill those positions. I am also all those things you have called yourself but that does not make me qualified or even a good fit for that job. I to was a caregiver to my mother who had MS that does not make me a good fit for that job.

I have a good idea where the money can come from I was a contract dental assistant at Allenwood prison for 8 years the waste you would be amazed the money spent on the inmates and the state of the art dental equipment in 3 dental offices. Can you get a root canal for 3 dollars? Many of those in that prison are not even citizens but the feds are paying top dollar for supplies for inmates that should be deported back from where they came from. I have seen walkers, practically new wheelchairs ect. being literally thrown out not being donated to agency that could recycle them to be used by people who can not afford them. Not to mention the pay for a bureau dental hygientist who maybe cleans 4 inmates teeth a day, that is wasteful spending and I could go on and on.

I had a janitorial business, so how does that qualify me? I have no specialized skills in the medical field nor have I ever worked with patients.

The only qualification I have is being a homemaker, wife, mother, bill payer, food shopper, cook, cleaner, all the things that a homemaker does, they seem to think this qualifies someone for the job.

Ooops I am sorry Mr.Kerstetter its just that you and Mr.Metzger the man who wrote the original letter sound so much alike and spew the same crap as long as I have mine cut off benefits for everyone else. You sound like a federal employee. You are a word spinner. Why were you on unemployment for 56 weeks? You should of been out of work far less than that, that is what you are saying there are jobs a plenty so whats your excuse for beong dependant on the benefits for 56 weeks???? I said that I was upset that my partial benefits were discontinued as you would have been if it had happened to you before you milked out your 56 weeks. You are a moron Mr. Kerstetter. You are probably a real treat at a party. One more time for you since you seem to not grasp what is being said when you work you pay in to unemployment comp so if you get laid off or lose your job those benefits help you get over the rough spots, as you had back in the 80s because you must of worked as I have to even collect.

spike, the cold qualifying description for this job was not written by me but by Genesis HealthCare, these are the requirements.

Qualfication: Specific Educational/Vocational Requirements. 1. A minimum of a high school diploma or graduation equivalent is preferred.

2. Current certificate in an accredited First Aid and CPR.

3. Participation in medication course required.

4. Must be able to read, write, and understand the English language.

5. Previous experience in nursing assistant, home health aid or homemaker is preferred to assist customers with basic activities.

These qualifications might not seem to be enough but this is all they require for a Personal Care Associate. I have already called them to ask why they sent me this job opening and their response was I am qualified for the position because I am a homemaker.
