You cons on here just kill me with your hyperbole. Very few liberals call for bans on guns, let alone all guns. My solution? Test people for paranoia. Create psychological scales and if you go too high, sorry, your not getting the gun. Pretty simple. If you think you need a gun, you have to prove you're not paranoid delusional.

Capricorn1, I believe I stand corrected on SYG in this case. My reading(understanding) of the jury instructions however still stands, & yes I believe it is giving level headed gun owners a bad rap.-Scott

Read the instructions given to the jurors in the George Zimmerman trial--The way I understood it was that one only needed to "feel" threatened. Too vague when using lethal force, IMO.-Scott

It was my understanding "stand your ground" was not even used in the Zimmerman case, self defense was. Self defense has been in the legal system for ages and as Phil rightly stated "We all have a right to defend ourselves; stand your ground laws simply define the parameters that allow deadly force when doing so."

According to Fox News no one has been killed in the US. Don't know about the rest if the world. Lots of damage though.

"But IMO, this "stand your ground" is giving rational gun owners a serious black eye. Read the instructions given to the jurors in the George Zimmerman trial-" - Scott36

You know, if you were a Conservative leaning poster, some of the left leaning posters on here would have already called you a racist for this comment. You cannot put "black" and "George Zimmerman" into the same conversation.

No, rick, you never said that. Liberals never say it....but they imply how much safer and better we would all be if there were no firearms.

Well, I don't live in that world of make-believe.-eriklatranyi

But you will "make believe" they "say" it anyway!?!?--Sorry, I could not resist-Scott

I think your intent here was more to voice your disdain for guns in general and you used this shooting to incite outrage. I don't blame you, it's something liberals have been programmed to do.-Capricorn1

Programed to do? This from someone from the right???LOL,repeat LOL!!! I personally lean to the left on most issues, but am very "pro-gun".(I own a number of them) But IMO, this "stand your ground" is giving rational gun owners a serious black eye. Read the instructions given to the jurors in the George Zimmerman trial--The way I understood it was that one only needed to "feel" threatened. Too vague when using lethal force, IMO.-Scott

Well Rick I was looking over the posts and since no one called you a "name" and not wanting to disappoint you....your a "name".

I also live in a real world where parents are afraid to send their children to school. What is your point? When that smart bomb comes down your chimney your weapon will do no good. If our government would turn on it's citizens there really is not much you or anyone could do. What is your solution for gangs? Fortify your home with weapons? Trust me you would not last long. Now on a light note. I honest to goodness did not know what hero-in was until I realized it is a bad word for the SG word police.

Well, I don't live in that world of make-believe.

The real world is one where liberal President allow firearms to get into the hands of the most notorious murderers in North America.

The real world is one where a liberal mayor of Chicago talks about disarming citizens while meeting with gangs to "tone it down" during election time.

I live in the real world where I can buy hero-in in Williamsport from a guy who will also sell me a stolen firearm.

I live in the real world where I can go to Grizzly and buy all the tools necessary to machine and manufacture as many firearms as I want.

I live in the real world where millions have been slaughtered by governments gone awry right after those citizens were disarmed.

I never said that erik, never. However if I had a knife pointed at me or a gun I would take my chances with the knife anyday. And no I am not sick Garben, I am fine, thank you for your concern though.

Liberals are so stupid, they think banning firearms would have prevented this death.

Liberals want you to ignore the thousands killed with blunt instruments, fists and other objects, but make you believe banning firearms will end all murder.

It is the liberal land of make-believe.

Chuck, what is your end game? A total ban on all firearms?"

What is yours Capricorn1, a gun in every hand and being the law onto yourself. -Reeder

Chuck, I simply respect the right to the lawful ownership of firearms as outlined in the 2nd Amendment and recently clarified by SCOTUS in District of Columbia V Heller. As many like to say about laws they support (Obamacare), it is the law of the land. Would you care to answer my question now?

"Man shot during home invasion in city"

It doesn't look like they had time to defend themselves against those three "block" men. More guns, that is what we need.

Well Chuck (see, my comment is directed to you), a right is a right. In a free society, we do not get to choose which ones we want to limit just because we don't like them.

I will say it again "f" you if you want to take away my rights, I don't care if it's a right to abortion, a right to bear arms, or my right to privacy.

Unless the SYG law says you can murder people for having popcorn thrown at you at a public venue, that law isn't applicable in this case.

Unless a lot of other gun-carrying moviegoers shot someone that night, the problem isn't a handy sidearm.

The point is he had a gun in a public place and he used it to kill someone and then tried to justify it. Too many Rambo's out there with too many guns. Take the gun out of the equation and things will be a little better.
