So people are without gas and cold in this freezing weather, but we have to cater to environmentalists for no drilling and a president who refuses to approve a pipeline? As our country has been......

"The State Department reported no major environmental objections to the proposed $7 billion pipeline, which has become a symbol of the political debate over climate change. Republicans and some oil- and gas-producing states in the U.S. - as well as Canada's minister of natural resources - cheered the report........"

Now that the Keystone pipeline has been cleared of the environmental obstacle, one has to wonder what Dumbama's NEXT excuse will be.

Hey Linda, not sure where you got your information but there is no gas shortage and there is no reason why anyone does not have heat, especially with all of the government subsidies. Don't fall into the drilling propaganda because once the infrustructure is ready, all of the gas they are drilling is headed to the open market to the highest bidder. Why do you think gas lines are not getting run into communities and we are being told that it is too expensive to run it to outlying communities. The price is going to go up and it will be as expensive as oil. If the gas industries can have the gas available at their drilling sites on top of the mountains to run their drilling equipment, then gas lines can be run to the communities that they are drilling in. Not only are the gas industries mking billions off of the gas, they are saving money by using what they pump out and not paying anyone for it.

The price has a bit more to do than with mere production. There are other ways to drive prices up and down on commodities. Is gas currently the best priced, yes without a doubt.

BS

A liberals idea of supply and demand is if liberals demand it, the government must supply it.

Most of the drilling occurs on non-federal property. It is driven by high oil price and improvements in technology. US production doesn't matter so much who the president is.

"The gas companies need only to open the valve and increase supply to meet demand;" --krazyk

You need to be more specific when you say "gas companies". The gas producing companies that drill and frack sell their natural gas from the well. Then the natural gas purchasers either move it to final customers or they store it in underground storage so they can move it to customers when they need it to heat their home. Many larger end users (industrial users and utility companies) will enter into longterm contracts so the gas price doesn't fluctuate. Underground storage acts as a buffer to handle consumer needs.

Government is not "daddy" who will take care of you, give you a raise, heal your boo-boos, etc.

But liberals think government can do all these things.

In the process, liberals complain about income inequality...as if income equality is desired......hint: it is not desired.

Nice try Premier....Politifact says you are wrong. Even cherry picking federal lands you still lose. See politifact article on Crossroads GPS' distorted "facts" from it's commercial, which focused on federal land drilling.

Actually, the primary reason for the increase in wealth among the wealthy is the Federal Reserve pumping almost $90 billion per month into the stock market, which we can all see is soaring while sales and corporate profits are not doing so well.

I don't know of any place in the US that has run out of natural gas this winter. When demand increases, prices follow. The gas companies need only to open the valve and increase supply to meet demand; but yell shortage at the same time. Cold weather=perceived shortage=increased profits=screw the little guy.

I've got ZERO problems with profit.

My problem is with folks (like capital-gainers)...who figure they have some "divine right" to tax-rates, LOWER-than folks who (actually) work-for-a-living.

I would be willing to bet he relied on the companies that employed him to make a profit in order to pay his salary. And I'm also sure his raises were also dependent on increased profits.

"Facts? Okay. From Fact Check.

During the last three fiscal years totally under Bush, there were 9,661 "new leases" granted for federal lands. For the three most recent fiscal years (which includes a few months of Bush's administration), there were 5,568 such new leases. This works out to a 42.4% decrease.

Take the same comparable periods for drilling permits on federal lands. There were 20,479 for the last three years under Bush, then 12,821 for the most recent three including much of Obama's first term. This is a 37.4% decrease." - Premier

Get rid of corn produced ethanol but use everything else responsibly from nuke to bio.

46 and Tex together show there is plenty of drilling going on. We are and can produce a lot of gas. So much so that Montgomery will have a gas power plant and the predictions are the US will be energy independent soon increasing our national security.
