Farmer, what was not printed in the letter, but what is important to know, is the fact that the limit for commercial NFIP insurance is $500,000.These entities were paid over and above the lawful limit of coverage. The Sun-Gazette cut this from the letter and it is an important fact.

As I've said before, this bill needs to be revoked and replaced with some thing more sensible.

How ever, I'd like to point out that Tulane University is not only one of the best schools in the country, but is also one of the largest hospitals in New Orleans. I can think of worse places to spend FEMA dollars.

One of my pet peeves has always been when some one uses a dumb argument to defend their case, wether their case be good or bad, (and I think this one is very good).

Marino voted for this bill without knowing anything about it. Why would he do that?

I don't know why and I haven't heard him answer for it either. And for that reason, he should not get another vote from either party for re-election. He's proven that he's not looking out for the best interest of his constituents. And, I voted for him. Never again.

Johnnyad3:

You fail to get to the root of the problem.

The problem was created by Obama's FEMA, who violated the law and did not conduct the affordability study.

Rather than petition for a re-write of the law and more subsidies, tell President Obama to order FEMA to halt all rate changes and conduct the affordability study in accordance with the law.

But, I suspect, the real issue here is that many who are upset are only interested in further subsidies of their lifestyle.

Republican/Erik hypocracy on display. Anyone that had anything to do with this bill needs to hear from us. Erik, you seem to think our lawmakers in the area are pure and without guilt. Marino voted for this bill without knowing anything about it. Why would he do that?

It was the Obama FEMA would botched this law, not Congress.

Congress passed a bi-partisan bill with the cooperation of both sides of the aisle. It included protections for homeowners.

It was President Obama who implemented this law incorrectly and created the current mess.

Rather than running to your local congressperson, you should be aiming at President Obama....after all, he has a pen and a phone.

Call him and tell him to stop breaking the law as it was written and conduct the affordability study!
