Premire, I simply asked you to point out where I had the decimals wrong, you can't find them either. What I wrote was very clear, maybe you are mentally challenged. Now we are done.

I'll let it go now Jerry. Some people just don't understand what they've written. Maybe it was written in code, duh no.

Premire, one thing that bugged me that you said I had trouble with the placement of my decimals, I have looked over my posts and did not see where I wrote that anyone would recieve 9,000.00 a month. Maybe you should have your eyes checked your seeing spots. I said it would cut a families food stamps by 90.00 (ninety) a month. Like I said before slow down and really try to read what is posted instead of making quick strokes behind that computer of yours. Off to work, again have a good day.

Spike2, Thanks for the insight, I do realize where I live. Oh yeah I can come up with a few names myself, but I will save them for another time. I am sure the name I am given won't be any worse than I have already seen lol, but I have thick skin I think I can take whatever is thrown my way. Bring it on. Be safe if you go out the roads are getting bad.

Well obviously.

That's not a reason for someone to accept less pay than they are worth.

If the company can't, or won't, pay their employees what they are worth the employees should leave and find work elsewhere.

Of course, if jobs openings are scarce the employee might be stuck there. If the employee is upside down on his mortgage they might not be able to see and move to where the jobs are.

It's the proverbial being stuck between a rock and a hard place.

You didn't say you wanted a raise, it was part of the discussion on profit. A company cannot give their employees a raise if they aren't making any money.

I don't recall saying I wanted a raise but generally speaking every person should demand the compensation they feel they are worth, either singularly or collectively if necessary.

Jerry, if banks don't make a profit, they don't have new capital to lend.

Yea, I work sales too, so I know how the "pay" generally works. If you want a raise, sell more.

Sorry about the double post. Right after I hit "post comment," Norton cut in that I was under attack by a virus. It was several seconds then before comment posted. Weird.

LauriH - 9:28 PM "USAborn, that is a wonderful thing that she does. I am currently getting my background checks to be able to fly to different bases in the US to do dental exams on new recruits."

She is planning on retiring in 2 years from her practice. After that, she wants to contract with the Air Force to service personnel in foreign countries. A year here, a year there, ect. Great way to see the world. She spent 18 months at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey and loved it. She also spent a year in Spain as a college student. One of her majors was Spanish and she studied at the University of Valladolid.

She loves to travel and does so once or twice a year.

Hope you find success in your endeavors.

"Walmart publishes its gross profit margin percentage by quarter. It averages around 25% which I would not describe as "very slim"."

There is a HUGE difference between GROSS and NET profits! Twenty-five vs 3.23% in this case.

Gross profit does not take account of overheads, which are costs not specifically related to specific goods. Gross profit also does not account for financial costs such as taxation or interest payments on debts. The measure of revenue minus all costs is known as net income.

And as I said, Walmart's NET INCOME last qtr posted was 3.23%.

Upon review of some of the other industries I see that I should aspire to work in banking cause those guys are rolling in it!!

I suppose that's the result of charging me a $5 fee to cash a check drawn on their own bank.

Raises? Well, I work on commission so my compensation is a reflection of my success (or lack there of).

When I Googled "average net profit by industry" I see that the average net profit for my industry is less than 2%. I already new that was the average for my industry tho. Retail (General) is 2.9% - so if Walmart is getting 4% I still that that is very impressive.
