Cold snap

February 13, 2014

This sub-freezing weather is far reaching. Think of it, those who went to Florida and left their homes empty and heating, often about 50 to 60 degrees, so their homes won’t freeze up....

"Global warming, hardly!" It's called GLOBAL warming, not USA warming, for a reason. As the global climate changes, weather patterns will become more extreme, including very cold temperatures in certain parts of the world.

I think it's now called 'climate change', not global warming. It was, back in the 70's and 80's, the consensus that we were headed into an ice age. Then global warming, and now climate change. Climate change is the most accurate term, since our climate is ever changing, going from warm spells to cold spells. And it's a safer bet for the activists who want us to believe we control this change.

Now to the subject of pipes breaking, I'm thinking if you are keeping your house at 78 degrees, and your water pipes are breaking you might want to consider heating the basement and adding some insulation. I think your money would be better spent doing that then setting your thermostat higher.

How can I get me some of that Global Warming to offset my heating cost. I think a heat redistribution plan needs to be put in place.

Perhaps a letter writing campaign to the U.N.?

It's cold out today so Al Gote was wrong? Can't we set the bar higher?

What is with keeping your house at 78 degrees?

Your thermostat is set at 78 degrees? Did you win the lottery or something? That would be way to warm to even be comfortable.

The liberal liars had to change Global Warming to Climate Change to mask their malfeasance of doctoring climate data.

Now, the mantra is "extreme weather".

Unfortunately, we have not experienced extreme weather patterns.

Today, we are experiencing a classic nor'easter storm. In the 1960s we had three in a row.

Nothing about the climate is extreme, except the projections being made by the same liberal liars who were caught manipulating the data to suit their agenda.

I hope everyone notices that the liberals, like Rick424, immediately attack the writer for choosing the temperature he likes rather than the one liberals think you should choose.

Once again, the know-it-all liberals want to dictate to everyone else.

I just asked a question Erik. I did not attack. As you can see I am not the only one. Besides my first comment was about weather. Geeez, get off your anti liberal BS and add to the conversation. It must be tough to hate so much. Now off to work in this weather.

Remember that the next time we have a warmer than normal month. Every time we have a warm month, the global warming nuts come out and point to it as evidence of global warming. Some have even tried to use this unusually cold weather as evidence of global warming. We even had some "scientists" blame global warming for getting stuck in the ice that according to their theory shouldn't have been there. Global temperatures have not risen since 1998 and are now cooling. It's a natural cycle...but natural cycles don't lend themselves to alarmism which leads to more government regulation, so we have to say it's man-made.

eriklatranyi; Having the thermostat set at 78* in the winter will wreak havoc on a person's sinuses. It's neither healthy or smart. But, if that's what a person wants and can affords, more power to them.

see: globial warming lies Ways to stop producing carbon dioxide Stop breathing - When you exhale you release carbon dioxide Don't drive - We all know how bad driving is Don't live in a house/apartment/condo or any building that uses gas or electricity - Homes produce 2-3 times as much carbon as cars. Don't wear shoes or any sort of clothing produced in a factory. Grow a cotton field and make your own clothes by hand.Quit school - Those school buildings produce more carbon in a year then you do in 20 years. Eat meat raw - Whether you're using gas or electric both produce carbon dioxide. Turn off this monitor and computer - You hypocrite. Don't use toilets, urinate or poo in your back yard.- The water to your house is cleaned and sent to your house using pumps that use electricity. Stop exercising - Increasing your heart rate increases the amount of oxygen you take in and turn into carbon dioxide.

Alan is old and old people get cold. As long as he's paying for it himself and not getting a subsidy from me, I don't care if he keeps his home at 90 degrees. Of course he's probably burning that evil fossil fuel and producing those dreaded greenhouse gases, but since that's all a hoax, who cares?

First, I was having a problem feeling for the poor old folks who went to Florida and let there heat on at 50 or 60. Surely if you can be a snowbird you can find someone to check your heat and your home while you are away. 78 degrees is insane. Senior complexes and homes must be at 72. how many have visited someone and found them oppressively hot? z3932, Rick, forget it. You cant explain that warming and pattern changes are global. You will never get by the all about us.

"conservatives" DO have a tendency to get "somewhat" confused, when dealing with conflicting "absolutes".

"One consequence of global warming is an increase in both ocean evaporation into the atmosphere, and the amount of water vapor the atmosphere can hold. High levels of water vapor in the atmosphere in turn create conditions more favorable for heavier precipitation in the form of intense rain and snow storms."

I just have to laugh. You just reminded me of a statement made recently by founder and president of the renowned Creation Museum, Ken Ham, …"when Noah built the ark, there was plenty of room for all the birds, and animals, and dinosaurs. On that science is clear!!!" Ok that was a paraphrase, but you get the point.

That's just the point, the globe is not warming anymore. For the last 15 years global warming profiteers have had to cherry pick temps to make it appear that it is. Global warming is big business and many universities are making big money perpetuating the myth. Here's how it works. If you say global warming is real, you get all kinds of government grants to prove it. If you say it isn't real you get nothing. It gets better. The more elaborate your global warming lie, the more money you get. It's all a scam and you're paying for it and the plan is to keep you paying for it and paying more. The ultimate aim is to convince you that only government can save us, so we need to give them more power. What kind of fool gives up his freedom for a lie? Better question, what kind of fool gives up his freedom for anything?
