"The world is running rampant with the evils of the devil. We as Christian and the community leaders are going to have to take a stand if we ever want to see America the way it used to be." - Lois Hugill

Despite what clerics tell everyone...EVERYTHING is temporary...even the way things "used to be".

A good way to start making improvements, would be to quit blaming everything (good & "evil") on faith-based phantoms like the "devil". Life isn't that simple...and, won't be...the way things "used to be".

Ted Kennedy was drunk, killed a woman, and still won the nomination for president.

But that came from the political party that still idolizes a man who took advantage of an intern and loudly booed the inclusion of the word 'God' into their party platform.

When people like this become involved with relevant groups the groups become irrelevant. Erik, she was not an intern. Be honest, this was an adult woman who consented to an adult relationship. She was of age. I do not know if charges should have ensued. none of us do. it's fine to raise the legal question but the exploited woman doesn't fly.

Spike - Erik was talking about Monica Lewinski in his last line.

These problems happen when large swaths of society believe that the word 'judgmental' is a swear word. The realities of right and wrong have been blurred to such an extent that any immoral or deviant behavior is OK because 'who am I to judge?" Facebook announced yesterday that it is adding 50 more options for a person to use to identify their gender. That act alone tells us what's wrong with our society. And yes, that's my judgment on the matter.

"She was of age." --spike2

Many people, in fact the majority of people in our society buy this lie because it conforms with the laws of society.

As a society, we should promote the sanctity of marriage and the commitment of a husband to a wife and a wife to a husband. I am not saying to pass a law to ban the practice of cheating but instead promote committed marriage as a standard, practice it, emulate it with your children, recognize it as an accomplishment, if you find a friend participating in it then scold them, stop watching the p.o.r.n on the computer and monitor your children, seek help, and recommit with your spouse.

Adultery tears apart marriages and hurts society. Children are born out of wedlock and a committed couple is not there to protect and care for the children. Children suffer.

Promote committed marriage and stop accepting or revering the actions of the President with the intern.

Lil' Dumbya (and, his Chickenhawk-compadres), thru their efforts to prove they were AS "bad" as people who DID serve, during 'Nam...were responsible for the deaths of 4,000+ combat-vets...in-search-of phantom-WMDs. Where's the justice for those, sacrificed, in the name o' The Bush Doctrine (i.e. preemptive-striking)??

The writer wants to bring back the temperance movement which brought the fastest turn around on an amendment to the Constitution. It is more than obvious that the right wing who post here has no problem using government to force citizens into a standard of morality that they approve of. They don't care either how that is accomplished.

BTW GWB was a drunk, then was elected President. There is a lot of adulterers in the Republican/conservative sphere. The right wing has no room to talk about morality, ethics and behavior in others.

Vince only sees one dimension, that is all he can handle. Facebook recognizes along with medical science that gender is more than just being male or female. They also realize that your sex does not define a person.

This is not an issue of this political party or that; it is an issue of truth, righteousness, and high ideals of living. Stop throwing the red herring on the floor and grow up. Don't disdain good.

GWB was a drunk and hellion as a teenager and early adult in Midland, TX. But he made a change in his life; he came to revile what he once revered.

And yes there are a lot of adulterers in the Republican Party and they should be scolded and condemned. If a person can not properly provide a role model in the family, should they be in trusted to be a role model and leader in government?

Morality should be promoted and emulated (but not worshipped otherwise it becomes a sin of acceptability) through out society. Love of neighbor should be practiced.

It is a sad commentary when Sham and Reeder have nothing to add to this subject except to point out the "excesses" of a young GWB. As humans we all fail, especially in our younger years due to peer pressure and the feeling of being invincible. But most of us grow out of it or, when empowered by money and position feel we don't have to. Why are we pointing out mistakes of the past when there are plenty being made right now that affect the future condition of our country?

Don't disdain good. I would tell you not to overlook good in others because you have myopic standards.

This person is a homosexual therefore they are not good. This person had an affair therefore they are not good. This person lied therefore they lie about everything. This woman had sex before marriage therefore she is loose. This person drinks therefore they are a drunk. This person did poorly in school therefore they are stupid. This person did wrong therefore they are a criminal.

I don't think you should be judging other people's morality, ethics and behavior. You are not in effect looking for the good in people you are in effect telling them they are not good enough and in doing so doesn't make you a good person.

Yes Mr. Weigle but it is okay for the commentary to point out the excesses of democrats and liberals. They are the only ones with bad behavior, no one who is republican or conservative would ever display bad behavior. They are all good people.

I'm sure that Lois has many wonderful qualities, but a firm grasp on reality is not one of them. There were some of her statements that I agree with whole-heartedly, but the letter overall is poorly conceived. The idea that having alcohol, drug and gun producers shut their facilities down would make for a better society is naïve. It is not the availability of these things that is the problem, it is the mindset of those who misuse them. Until we, as a society, educate our children on morals and the source of morality, we will continue the downward spiral.

Fredzz, there ARE differences that might affect the DEGREE of your hurt.

Was the person who killed your loved one a teenager drag-racing? Someone texting while driving? Or possibly someone who had a heart attack and hit someone in the opposing lane head-on? In other words, was it a real ACCIDENT, or just plain CARELESSNESS.

HOW someone is killed could very well have an affect on the speed of your recovery from such a horrible event.

Chuck, Again you fail to understand. It was you, not I who declared that we should not judge each other, while you continue to judge. I do not condemn in others, behavior that I myself participate in, but you do. You are a hypocrite and I was just pointing that out so that you could correct it. I see that you have no intention of improving yourself, but I will not give up on you. Hope springs eternal.

No Chuck. I do not hate anyone. You mistake disagree with hate. That is only natural because you hate everyone who disagrees with you, but not everyone is like that. I do not hate you, I just disagree with you most of the time. I also do not generally make moral judgments about people, only behavior. You on the other hand don't seem to be able to make that distinction. You actually gave some good advice, but ironically, you didn't even understand what you were saying. You would be much better off if you would open your mind and lose the anger and hate that drive most of your responses. Address the ideas, not the people. Just to be fair, others here (Bobbie) could benefit from this message also.

You fail to understand enigma you judge everyone but don't like to be judged. You judge every liberal who posts here and then get upset when we judge you. You are fine when only the left gets judge and those who support leftist agenda. However you don't think that the right should be held to those same judgments. Fair is fair enigma if you on the right want to keep judging the 'goodness' of the left then be prepared to be judge right back for your 'goodness'. If you keep judging others don't be offended when you get judged also.

Don't post Ted Kennedy is a drunk and people nominated for President and act all shocked by it. GWB was a drunk and did become President. They are both drunks, both were successful.
