Perhaps... I'm sure I'm as equally at fault. More than half the comments I post are typed from my phone. Most of my evening comments are posted while I on the tablet and I am using the elliptical.

Mercury2,

Take a look at that list, and tell me that it could not be applied to any government almost anywhere--depending upon how a person perceives it.(#6 & #10 could be exempted from some countries-possibly) This list would seem to have no time limit on it, as far as making charges against a Gov.-JMO-Have a Great day!!-Scott

"Ritty, I can picture today’s Progressives having this list hanging on their bedroom wall right along side the pictures of Che Guevara and Fidel Castro, just like their predessors I went to colledge with."

That is the problem you imagine the list, printed it and then you imagine that leftist adopted it and hung it on their walls. The only ones who believe in this list is the right.

6. Always preach true democracy, but seize power as fast and as ruthlessly as possible.

7. By encouraging government extravagance, destroy its credit and produce fear of inflation with rising prices and general discontent.

8. Foment unnecessary strikes in vital industries, encourage civil disorders, and foster a lenient and soft attitude on the part of government toward such disorders.

9. By specious argument cause the breakdown of the old moral virtues, honesty, sobriety, continence, faith in the pledged word, ruggedness.

10. Cause the registration of all firearms on some pretext, with a view to confiscating them and leaving the populace helpless. snopesdotcom

Communist Rules for Revolution

In May 1919 at Dusseldorf, Germany, the allied forces discovered a copy of these 'Rules.' They were first printed in the United States in the 'Bartlesville (Oklahoma) Examiner-Enterprise' the same year, 1919.

Almost 20 years later, in 1946, the attorney general of Florida obtained them from a known member of the Communist Party, who acknowledged that the 'Rules' were then still a part of the Communist program for the United States.

1. Corrupt the young, get them away from religion. Get them interested in sex. Make them superficial. Destroy their ruggedness.

2. Get control of all means of publicity.

3. Get people's minds off their government by focusing their attention on athletics, sexy books and other trivialities.

4. Divide the people into hostile groups by constantly harping on controversial matters of no importance.

5. Destroy the people's faith in their natural leaders by holding the latter up

Local small businesses have two options when big box stores or chain stores/restaurants come into the area. They can either throw their hands up and give in, or they can pick up their game and do better. You are seeing it locally in hardware stores--Elery Nau in Montoursville, office supply stores--Huffman's Office Supply, Snyder's Country Pet on Rte. 87 and numerous locally owned and operated restaurants. I always shop local when possible. I keep the money local and get better service, products and knowledge.

Farmer, NPR is not mainstream. It provides news and programming, but when someone speaks of mainstream, they refer to the big 4 networks and the two big 24 hour news channels. These outlets have largely ignored the problems and since this is where most people get their news most people have no idea it is even going on. BBC is one channel I have found that I like that reports well on world events.
