"I have a nice snowblower and I do the entire block, the street and the driveways. Takes me about 4 hours. Only I don't charge. Neighbors helping neighbors and I get some really good pies and baked goods for the effort."-- Capricorn1

ME Me Me, I I I… Really Donna? Here is what I gather from your post. You don’t work, and you don’t drive or (drive in the snow), and biggest event of your day is a walk to the Dollar General where I am sure it’s only for social interaction to complain to the poor cashier who is forced to be nice, nod and agree. How about you plan ahead? Was it a surprise to anyone the storm was coming? Was it so necessary to risk life and death to venture to Dollar General (sarcasm). Stay home if you don’t like that fact people work and can’t jump out of bed first thing in the morning to clear their sidewalks for YOU.

This issue seems to be the same thing just about anyplace it snows. It can be a real hazard with the thaw/freeze. I am fairly certain that many local papers in areas of snow get these LTE's-Scott

It's been a tough winter and recently many freeze/thaws. Remove the snow, then water from snow thaw recoats the cleared area and re-freezes. It's a hazard, you simply have to deal with it - or shop another time.

Hey rick, did you get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?

Clearing your sidewalks is a good thing because if someone falls your homeowners insurance will get nailed for it which in the end comes out of your pocket. Come on rick be nice!!

If I don't want to clear my walk that is my right. So there. Now I am really unhappy with the comcast netflix deal. What a rip off for the consumer. Comcast is evil.

I was in NYC last week. There is ice and snow everywhere.

These storms took people by surprise.

Texas, actually I have a nice snowblower and I do the entire block, the street and the driveways. Takes me about 4 hours. Only I don't charge. Neighbors helping neighbors and I get some really good pies and baked goods for the effort. ;-)

Capricorn1, it sounds like you can still make a jump on the market and make a little extra cash. Of course now a days, you might get a snowblower to make it a little easier. :-)

Gone are the days when you see kids walking the streets with snow shovels trying to earn extra pocket money. My brothers and I always tried to be the first ones out to try and beat the other kids on the block.
