Bolstered by gas industry, city near top of national list

February 27, 2014

When you live in an area, you know all its warts. So it's only natural that we tend to take for granted the area we live in, not seeing the positives that are around us every day....

Williamsport is doing so well...really. I see a lot of crime and a lot of DUI's. I see the County wasting the gas impact fees. I see hotels being built that will turn into section 8 housing when the gas industry moves out because no one is going to want to visit an area that has had it beautiful lands destroyed. I know I am going to get lots of hits on this one but don't sit in the City, get out and take a look around at the devastation being caused by the gas industry...it is the saddest thing I have ever seen.

One reason Williamsport is doing so well and it has nothing to do with the city at all.

The only thing lacking credibility is this article. Show me the results. I don't see any and that is what I am looking for, tangible results.

If Republicans hadn't INSISTED that the "for-profits" HAD to be involved (for the ACA to move, forward), we wouldn't be in the present-situation. -Shaman

Sorry Shaman, you can't place any of this legislation on Republicans. You yourself have admitted in the past that they washed their hands of it early in the process. This is a totally democrat initiative regardless where they initially got the idea. So your Heritage Foundation reply isn't necessary. If it is successful then Democrats can take credit but if you call the current status of this legislation as a success then nothing would convince you otherwise. Obama would not keep handing out delays unless they already knew the impact of the employer mandate and it's negative effects on the reelection of democrats. As time has passed you seem to be giving more and more "credit" to republicans for this legislation. Convenient.

Read the PDF on line, it is interesting. The liability for Williamsport is that it is dependent on manufacturing industries that are in decline. That is what Williamsport needs sustaining jobs. We really need high tech jobs here also.

Like this editorial had suggested..."..at a certain point those perceptions start to lack credibility."

If Republicans hadn't INSISTED that the "for-profits" HAD to be involved (for the ACA to move, forward), we wouldn't be in the present-situation.

The only difference, between now...and, the past...is, the "for-profits" can no-longer limit their customer-base to healthy-people, ONLY.

...Much like the reality of Obamacare.
