Shame on the president and his friend from France, big dinner and everything that goes with it. The closest some people get is Meals on Wheels and a catered meal from Crouse’s for $6.00....

I'm sure you were equally (I know, a very odd word for you - go look it up) critical of both Bush and the Reagan presidencies every time they held a state dinner, correct. No, no, surely Obama is the first. He also invented the game of golf and the concept of vacations, I'm sure. Gee, I wish he would bring the price of gas down.

"Obama, don't you worry about people losing their unemployment benefits, no jobs, hungry people, oil and propane so high, gas so high, you can't drive to look for work. Just keep having your deluxe parties and driving big cars everywhere, you have the bucks to do it, many don't. Can't wait till 2016 to say goodbye." - Donna J. Lambert

Hmmmmm...the most-"conservative" response I can imagine, would be "CLASS WARFARE"!!!!

Typically, this accusation is most-often voiced by those same folks...who'd INSISTED the President CAN'T create jobs...back, during the Bush Jr. years.

There are many valid criticisms that of this administration that could be discussed in a constructive way, this letter to the editor misses the mark.

Good day to all.

Yes, in 2016 you'll get to say good-bye to Obama and hello to Hillary. The same people who elected Obama, then re-elected Obama will elect Hillary so that we can have 8 more years of the same. Heaven help us.

Typically, lavish dinners are toned down by the White House due to the "optics" involved.

It was a sign of respect by presidents of both political parties.

They should have served Spam and saltine crackers and a Ritz mock apple pie. Could we at least spring for some Bud Lite to impress our guest?

The only meaningful part of this letter for me is that she wants Obama gone and that I agree with.

Envious of what? Do you really stand behind the direction of where this President is ? That was a joke right? Look at his numbers, even your own party does not agree. No envy here.

Look at the state of the economy... (2 million out of work, almost 50 million on food stamps, 17+ TRILLION national debt, no budget from the President for 5 years, over a trillion dollar yearly debt for the first 2 years, thousands upon thousands of illegal aliens on social security and benefits for the poor living better than some citizens and GWB's 22 million dollar,(total for eight years) vacations at Crawford Texas. That's what's different about Obama living "high on the hog" in these times of the new misery index

Get used to that misery index. It’s not going to improve as long as collectivism is government policy. In fact it’ll continue to get worse as we keep taking more resources from the economy to support it.

So Ms. Lambert is upset over a State dinner? This letter does not mention anything related to poverty. There are jobs, just not in Central PA, gas has always been high. Oil and propane have always been high as well.

Oh, and Obama doesn't leave office until January 20, 2017, not in 2016.

No...not "the same".

President Obama will have extricated us from Lil' Dumbya's overseas-debacles, by the time Hill & Bill are back in the Oval Office.

I would say critiquing the costs of dinners with foreign dignitaries is ridiculous. Let's take them to McDonald's or perhaps a bologna sandwich. this is just stupid. no cracked sidewalks to complain about.

Donna, This is something new you're talking about, how about going after the rest of the past Presidents! Maybe you can ask the Koch Bros. who throw tons of money to get Tea Party members elected? We could talk money all day long how it's throw around but, the bottom line is this is the norm. Let's also throw in all the Congress folks who get around two hundred dollars a day for meals, etc. but, on that note it's the worst Congress the USA has ever seen and this includes all parties! If you want to become President for minimum wage,I'll vote for you.

I remember liberals complaining about Nancy Reagan changing the china and drapes in the White House while the economy was weak and people were out of work.

So, were liberals wrong then or now?

Hmmmmmmm...he (voluntarily) took the "reins" of our economy...before Lil' Dumbya was (even) OUTTA the Whitehouse, made John McCain look COMPLETELY-unprepared for the Presidency...and, got us "back-on-track"!!

Yeah...we Dems are MORE-than-satisfied!!!!
