Many individuals lack the ability to plan for their financial futures. Many others simply have no plan. It costs money to live and the price increases with time. Instead of blaming others, you need to look within, learn from mistakes, and change as the situations dictate. High schools should teach a course in personal finance.

Although she did a poor job conveying her point, she is correct, WASD is out of control when it comes to spending.

I hope the under 50 crowd has a private IRA or 401K account because there's not going to be anything for them. The digitizing of billions of dollars a month has ruined the dollar's value. Or don't keep your money in the bank... it doesn't earn any interest anyway but will be available when the banks close. LEARN from history before they erase it....

A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.

It's sad when more young people believe they'll see a U.F.O. than that they'll see their own Social Security benefits wich they are paying into.

"Who said social security was supposed to be the sole source of income for retired people?"

No one. Sadly though many people on Social Security lived paycheck to paycheck. When you are living that way, even the best "planners" can't save for the future.

A couple of questions about the letter though:

If she is renting, why is she worried about flood insurance?

What part of the Constitution is being violated everyday? I'll bet she wouldn't be able to answer.

She just seems like an angry woman lashing out.

Ms. Kennedy, your SS was never meant to be your sole retirement income. If you failed to plan properly and are now at the mercy of govt handouts that is your problem. While I understand your plight, you must understand the govt has no interest in taking care of you. Their only interest is to keep you attached to their****ple so that they can control you. Make sure you tell your kids and grandkids to prepare for themselves and don't allow them to become slaves of the govt handout program. Yeah, I know you paid into SS and all the rest of it, but it is a lousy return on investment and you have no control over it. There is no incentive for the govt to do anything well, there is only incentive to expand the govt so that the employees get promotions and raises by expansion and the hiring of more staff.

I like how people think that everyone get a raise yearly. A lot of companies do not even give out cost of living raises at all. So I would be happy with any increase you may receive

Apparently, Gretchen feels that everyone is greedy, except her. When anyone else wants more money, they're greedy, but when she wants more money, it's because she deserves it. There are a couple of sentences I'd like to agree with, but the rest of the rant just makes the whole letter one big tantrum.
