I'm curios to when we can seriously start looking into revamping the 180 day school year. The majority of America's students today aren't helping their families on the farms. Ironically, one would think the Farmville game of Facebook would have reinvigorated the idea of hard work though.

I appreciate the hard working teachers out there. I think there is good reason for you to be unionized. The politics and unions though would seemingly prevent any drastic change to the 180 day calendar.

Erik, I agree with your first 2 statements, after that you lost me. How does "coddling" children = mass shootings and mental issues? So the assistant principal at Jackson Elementary school who was just in the paper for telling K-3rd graders if they did not be quiet in the lunchroom he said he was going to "rip off their faces" now he sounds like he has a mental issues. I realize that children today are given many more choices than we had as children, but the world is a different place. The comparison you gave is like me saying playing football in high school makes you more likely to abuse your wife and kids and thats not true either.

This absolute coddling of children is destructive to our nation.

We are creating weak humans that cannot handle the stresses of everyday life.

Is it any wonder we have more mass shootings and mental issues?
